My 1st impressions:
1. Installation was quick and easy. I'm not handy at all and had no issues. Though I still have to wire the license plate light.
2. The license plate looks obstructed at certain angles. I'm concerned that it might attract a violation ticket. I'll look for a better way to put the tag. Maybe on the tire?
3. Dirtcom's installation video calls for a 22mm wrench. Not needed at all. There were no 22mm bolts or nuts.
4. I'll be adding a heavy security chain+padlock. Dirtcom provided wheel locks but the wheel holder itself is just secured by 4x 19mm bolts.
5. The hinge arrived with stains. Are these stains cosmetic or something to be concerned about?

May I ask what you paid for that set up?
$1,750 + $100 S&H.
Pretty pricey imho but I was looking for something that's long-lasting/"buy it for life"/cover all my possible use-case scenarios.
I saw JonDZ and Dirtcom's youtube videos. They appear to be knowledgeable about overlanding and their gear, which is overkill for my use (long drives, car camping).

I didn't weigh but my guess is 130 lbs.
Maybe 65lbs for the 18" OEM wheel and Falken Wildpeaks AT Trail.
Dirtcom site lists their trail swing at 65lbs too. The shipping label shows 75lbs.
Don't forget that you can subtract the weight of the donut spare that can be removed with the full size spare in place.

Hopefully, you used the JonDZ 5% discount code.

Any particular reason you didn't add on the flip down table?

Notify Dirtcom immediately re: that stain concern. Warranty and/or customer satisfaction resolution/replacement should quickly follow.

Did you pay tax on top of the purchase price? You did not mention that.

I could be mistaken, but I think the 5% discount code is for the Traxda lift kit. If not, then I did forget/didn't know.

Didn't add the flip down table because the trail hitch was already eating my budget. Still have to get skid plates. I figured I could use a picnic table/bring my own cheaper table.
I did order the $180 trail bracket for a future rotopack. Remote roadtrips are on my bucket list. I thought that having a properly mounted gas could be handy and save interior space.

I know for a fact that the JonDZ YT channel discount listings do NOT reference a Dirtcom discount.

Where I recall seeing the 5% discount for the Dirtcom item, was flashed across one of his recent (?) videos where he floats information across the screen.

I feel bad I mentioned it here because now I'm questioning my prior eyes on the discount. I haven't seen it again this morning when "quickly" going through his recent videos to confirm my original thought.

I'm eagerly awaiting for mine to arrive. About how long did you wait after purchasing? I think I bought mine sometime in December.

Also, I'm far far from handy myself. I was even going to go to a local body shop to have mine put on for me when it arrives. But you give me a little hope in myself. ( I've taken 2 days to put a desk together)

I ordered end of Sept and it arrived 3rd week of Jan.
I'd definitely recommend taking a shot at installing it yourself. It felt like I was playing with Legos. Plus their YouTube video is very detailed.
My worry was that I'd botch the installation and end up killing someone on the highway. But I'd say it's highly improbable, almost impossible once the security chain arrives.

1. The hardest part for me was taking it out of the box. I couldn't carry it out while bending over the box.
So I covered the floor with cardboard, and then cut one side of the box to drag it out.
There was a small packing box inside (roughly 2"x4") to use as a stand (prevent the thing from falling over).

2. Loosen the wedge system with a 19mm (not 22mm, their video is wrong). I ended up buying a 22mm wrench that will probably never be used.
Lift and slide into the tow hitch. It was easier to lift with legs and a straight back.
Align the holes to slide in the 5/8" hitch pin. I bought a Paclock hitch lock.
Tighten the wedge system with a 19mm, while pulling back the trail hitch (as shown in the video 4:44 mark).
I kept tightening until there's no wiggle anymore when tugging the hinge-end (5:00 video mark).

3. Install the resting pad and license plate bracket.
The license bracket clears the cargo door at any position. So I placed mine all the way to the left which gives it the most visibility.

4. Install the tire mount then mount the tire.

5. Connect the license plate light to the 7pin outlet.
TBD. Been working from home long hours so hopefully this weekend.

Good call on the Trailswing! It is (by my experiences in the past) the best swing-out tire holder available. Of course you have to pay a pretty penny for it, but the one you bought also fits on a dozen other vehicles should you decide to change one day. I love mine! Thank you for sharing.
