I've carried longer boards, pipe, siding, flashing, trim, etc. INSIDE our Pilot than in any pickup bed I could have borrowed. Unless it's a load of mulch or gravel dropped in by a front loader, a large SUV is more useful more often than a truck. And you would need a full size truck (or Ridgeline) to carry 4x8 sheet materials. For those rare times, there are ways to get it home on your roof rack.And after some thought, the idea of a pick-up truck is good and the bed is a "nice to have" we don't really need the bed as much as we thought - especially after our Tacoma ownership.
