I've been charging my oem battery, but recently let it go for a week without charging. My auto-stop hasn't activated in the past couple days and just got the low battery warning light. I have the feeling that once the battery voltage gets to the 12.1-12.3 range, auto-stop just won't activate.
The Passport does not have a visual battery voltage indicator. The battery warning light on the instrument panel is for the alternator, it comes on when your alternator is not charging the battery.

Mine does. I keep my cheap Fluke meter with me and check voltage periodically. Another option is to get an adapter for the cig socket that shoes voltage. Meter is just as simple though....
Did Honda build any of those into your Passport or you got them third party? In case you missed the import of my response, it's - If you need to know your battery charge level you have to get a third party gizmo.

The OEM battery is built in.
If I may quote you - "common sense" is not built into that response, everyone knows the OEM battery is built in.
But your response is a bit short this time on the dozens of trucking business tools you typically pat yourself on the back for having to hook up to your vehicle. Perhaps you should reel it all out again with the usual picture? Not everyone is in the trucking business or believes it's necessary to have a personal smog meter for their Passport, but it's musing to read your list of things you - "hook up periodically."

Where does one find a service manual for the PP? I have a factory Bentley manual for my BMW 330i, but have not been able to find a comparable one for the PP. Also, what sort of special tools are required to do the belt and valve adjustment etc. on the PP?
I find it odd that a 2002 Ford Explorer can go 250k miles w/o a valve adjustment being necessary, but a modern Honda V6 can't. Does Honda use solid lifters? Thanks for your input.
Honda service manuals are now subscription based and the subscription is quite expensive.

Honda provides NO recommendations that the average owner should use a battery maintainer whenever vehicle is parked, or left undriven for a week.
I reminded @ballisticexchris of this a few weeks ago, his response was akin to - 'Never mind what Honda said about using and maintaining it's cars, believe me instead.'

I felt there was a lot of messiah complex in that response.

Penzance and fx_chip, You are doing a disservice to our forum members here by spreading false and toxic comments along with negativity. I have discussed this with you before but you don't seem receptive to the idea of politeness and decorum. Backhanded name calling and feeble attempts to discredit me are childish and adolescent in nature. I would politely ask you to refrain from this please.
Everything I said is facts. 👇 If you don't like being quoted maybe you should be more careful with your claims...

You also clearly said:

"I don't mean to sound callous, but Honda does not have my best interest at heart when it comes to keeping the vehicle running trouble free..."

And this is was said in an effort to convince everyone reading that Honda's maintenance reminder/instructions is bs.

I'm all for politeness and decorum but that doesn't say I can't highlight your contradictory and overzealous claims.

There is a description for you are doing. It's called trolling. And it is direct violation of forum rules. But hey go ahead as it's the new normal for the toxic environment that seems to excite and thrill some of you. I feel bad for the moderators that have to put up with this nonsense.
Okay, when presented with evidence the accusation is not longer "You trying to discredit me." the accusation is now "You are rolling me." I alluded to same weaving and dodging behaviour a couple of days ago. Do you ever accept responsibility?

Now let me tell you how trolling works.

If Mr. AA says - "I love the color purple" while not in any exchange with Ballisticexchris.
But Ballisticexchris chips in and says - The color purple is a horrible color.
Mr. AA replies - To each his own, I still love purple.

A few days later, Mr. AA tells another forum member - I love the color purple.
Ballisticexchris chips in uninvited and says - The color purple is a horrible color. Why do you keep saying you love purple?

Days later, Mr. BB also says - I love the color purple.
Ballisticexchris chips in uninvited and says - The color purple is a horrible color. Why the heck do so many people love purple? Why not blue? Let me tell you about the positives of blue. I have spent years using blue so I have a lot to say on it...etc.

That is what trolling is and that is what you run around the forum doing. State your opinion and move on, endeavor not to engage with folks that have ideological disagreements with you instead of repeatedly looking for entanglements with them, needless and repeated engagement is the definition of trolling. If my AA says I love purple, you go create a different thread and say - I love something else instead of bombing Mr. AA's replies with messianic opinion.

I just rec'd. the Warranty Extension letter today - that's a good thing 👍. I don't see anything directing me to have the software updated so I assume that is done on a case by case basis depending on what the dealer finds when the vehicle's in the shop.
Will a 'sytem warming up or charging' message be enough to have them update, or will they need to see a bad battery before they perform the fix?
In other words, do I need to stop disabling the Idle Stop every time I get in the car in order to have the software update done?
I think dealers do the update on every Passport that's brought in no matter the condition of the battery.

We just bought a '23 PP Elite. Do we have that letter to look forward to? lol
Considering the fact that this update was released in January your is likely updated from the factory. And just in case your Passport left the factory before the update, Honda instructed dealers to check and update vehicles on their lot before sale.

I normally turn autostart off.
I'm thinking of not going to the dealer as I don't really trust their work.
Anyone here that turns the autostart off and still doing this update?
I have the IdleStopper gizmo installed in the wife's 2020 Passport Touring so we have never had any interaction with the Idlestop system in over a year since we installed IdleStopper. If this were an OTA (Over-The-Air) update we would have done it but we don't intend to go and waste an hour sitting in the dealer's showroom to do the update until we trade the car in for another Honda vehicle (possibly the 2025 Passport), that is, unless the dealer does the update of his own volition while we are there for routine maintenance.
