Currently, I drive a 2021 Ridgeline RTL-E. I love what the platform offers iVTM4, interior space, and a snappy V6 engine. The main reason I would like to switch to a Passport is the smaller size. It will fit in my garage. Tried to search for info within the forum and couldn't find any good results.

For us is pretty easy to place all the gear inside the waterproof trunk and secure the inflatable boards in the bed.

Keep in mind that we only deflate them completely on special occasions.

My plan in a passport was to strap the two boards in the roof rack. And get a big container box that can fit the lifevests, wet shoes, and paddles.
For sure it will be harder than in the Ridgeline but I can sleep more peacefully that all my vehicles are secured in the garage.

Share suggestions or how you do it.

TIA

If it were me i would get a roof rack surfboard attachment like you said. As for the paddles i would fold the rear seats down and put them in the trunk. The passport also has a waterproof box underneath the floor in the trunk which you could put the life vests and wet shoes in.

Your garage ceiling doesn't look very high, you may have issues with a roof cargo box.

Not worried about the height at all. Passport should fit unloaded. Just wanted tips on things to consider.
The RL is excellent is just the size but has many pros over the passport.
I'm still not sure yet. In the end, I have to pick my pill.
There isn't a perfect solution to my dilemma.

You'll be happy with the Passport.
The 2022 entry level EX-L model does not have the sound dampening (quiet cabin) like the 2022 Elite.
I don't think the 2022 Trail Model is scheduled to have the same quiet cabin, but it might.

The 2019 - 2021 Touring, Elite, as well as the 2022 Elite have sound dampening filters in the 20" rims and acoustic glass in the front doors and the front windshield.

Behind the front seats, with the back row of seats down and the front seats are slid "back",
you have 59", so the hatch door will close, without breaking the rear hatch glass.

I bought two racks that attach to the crossbars of my 2021 Passport Elite for use with kayaks or SUPs. I can't pull in the garage with the racks even folded down, but it works well. The paddles stow nicely on the racks. For the life jackets etc. I bought an expandable, multi-compartment nylon thing that extends the width of my rear compartment and it's easily hosed out and dryer with the life jackets. I installed a hitch receiver that I haul bikes on and I hope to get a day in where I leave the bike, kayak downriver to it, and ride back.

Pretty much why I have a PP rather than a new RL. I loved my 2008 RTL but it barely (and I mean barely) fit in my garage space. The new RL is longer and would not fit. Those few inches made it a no-go.
