There was a prototype infotainment system in a 2019 Pilot at CES this year. Its still in concept but would apparently allow you to pay for various goods and services in advance. It will also be compatible with movies, games, comics and various other applications. https://carbuzz.com/news/honda-s-new-infotainment-system-will-let-you-watch-movies
Drivers will have access to an expanded version of Honda's in-vehicle payment technology, which enables drivers to pay for goods and services such as fuel, movie tickets, parking, and make restaurant reservations or order food for pickup or delivery.

Now we're seeing the rise of personal assistant type of systems. If it wasn't for voice command systems in our smart devices also now becoming a thing, i doubt this would have happened. Great move Honda.

Although this tech is neat, I don't really see an advantage over just doing the same thing from your mobile phone. Sounds like just another way for drivers to get distracted, unless they plan on locking it out when the car is in motion.

I think this particular "feature" is proof that one person's "dream" is another person's "nightmare."

;)

Not too long ago, I read that when autonomous cars become popular, passengers will be able to order stuff and have it delivered to their vehicle by drone.

The overall objective of all connective technology system are to be seamless and as if they're not around. Having it in everywhere from your car to home are key contributors

I wonder if the "Dream System" reports your location to Facebook, Google and Amazon, so they can bombard you with local ads?

(Example): The Nav interupts your music to tell you about an approaching gas station when you are down to a quarter tank, or it's morning and they remind you a Starbucks is only 2.3 miles away, or Macy's is having a 1-day sale... ARGH!

You don't have to wonder. ;)

Not to start a debate, but I think that the overall objective of this system is no different than many other "connectivity" technologies and services - data collection.

I'm not in favor of it either but its happening on all levels and all aspects of life. All you can do at this point is delay your adoption of the tech as much as possible. Scariest of all is the cashless society we're actively moving into right now.
