Homemade Cargo Liner

I was originally going to purchase the OEM cargo liner, but since I have dogs, it leaves the seat/cargo fold area with a large cravasse the dogs feet can potentially get caught in, I didn't want to risk it. .

I wanted a full cargo liner, but a lot of options didn't fit exactly, they were either too large, too small, or too expensive.

I got my idea from CanvasBack($209): Passport - Honda Liners - Cargo Liners
Which uses velcro (hook side) to attach to the cargo area. The total cost of this project is approx. $30.

Material:
OtterTex waterproof Canvas - 2 yards ($6.99/yard). Wholesale Ottertex® Canvas Fabric
This fabric is lined with some kind of plastic that sewing a border is unnecessary.

Sticky Velcro Hook, 1 inch width.

Pencil or Marker
Scissors
masking tape

Fold the seats down flat. Lay the canvas over the cargo area. Tape the canvas down to hold it still. Using your pencil or Marker, trace the outline of the carpet cargo area, using your fingers to feel the edges. Measure twice. Cut out the canvas following your markings.

Align your canvas so it lays out perfectly over the cargo area. Starting either the seats or the tailgate, lift up the canvas to expose the carpet. Lay the hook side of the velcro down onto the carpet to fit it correctly. Peel the sticky backing away, lay the canvas on top of the sticky Velcro. Repeat this step all around the perimeter of the cargo area. Cut a slit out for the 60/40 fold. Velcro this area too.
