Homelink upgrade? 2019 Passport

I feel your pain. I guess because there's no telling what Accessories you might have On in Accessory mode (heated seats!!!!??) Honda says "idle it" vs risking running the battery down. I in fact started my update process in ACC mode and when it took far longer than I expected I started to worry about the battery and whether starting the engine midway might cause a dangerous power glitch. I did it anyway and it worked..

So I was lucky, but in general one does NOT want to try to apply a firmware update to any gizmo and have the power go dead. Could become a fancy "brick".

So if you change your mind and decide to do it anyway, spend a buck or two and idle the friggin' engine, Bud.

It took me 30 minutes sitting in my garage on the home WiFi. Motor off, Acc. mode on.

I had the dealer do it when I brought it in for a recall notice to have a reinforcement plate to secure the hood latch.

I did this update and keep getting "bugged" by the system to do it again. It goes as far as to say if I don't do it, I will be charged after the fact to have it done. I have gone into the system and taken pictures of the screen that shows no updates needed. If it comes to it and the system truly is not updated, I will show the dealer the pictures and make them deal with Honda to get payment.

After the actual update is completed, I received a couple of messages on the headunit reminding to update haha.

If you don't update, you will need to get a new module in order for hondalink to talk again. Download only takes a couple of minutes, once its done downloading, you can drive while its updating.

If you're worried about battery power hook up a charger and set it to download if you don't want to run the engine.

ditto. I did the update maybe 2 weeks ago and still get alerts and now messages to do the update, when I look at what version I’m on, it’s current. So…🤷‍♀️

Guess our two lucked out. No updates needed!
