Hi everyone I've been lurking the forums for a while finding a lot of useful info here. Today as my GF and I left our surprise baby shower, I forgot to release the parking brake (aka third break on top of the dead pedal). The vehicle automatically started beeping and warning me to release it which I did and heard a mini tire squeal. This all happened in a matter of 3 mins and want to know if anyone has had experience on the matter. Could I have done any damage to it. I guess I'm just very paranoid being that this is the family car and wouldn't want any problems this early into the SUV.

No problem.
If you ever need to adjust the parking brake, go to a parking lot. Press the parking brake pedal, about 2/3 of the way and back up 100 feet. Release the brake and repeat three times.

Thank you for your response. Just to elaborate more heres what happened. After geting everything loaded in the suv. My GF and I got in to head home, I had my foot on the brakes and shifted from (P) to (D) and forgot to press the parking pedal to release it. After gently pressing the gas pedal I felt resistance. About 3ft to 5ft from where I was parked the car immediately started beeping to alert me on my mistake and release the parking break. I immediately pressed the brake pedal and released the parking pedal and heard some chirp from the tires. I'm driving the vehicle now and seems well I even inspected the brakes and no scoring on the rotors. So hopefully its ok. Would you I advise I get it checked anyways?

LMAO, when I first saw your title to the post I thought you drove 550 miles with the parking brake on! And I said to myself no, no.... that's just beyond help. :ROFLMAO:
And agree no need to have them checked.

Lol yeah dats beyond help I'll try to be more clear next time. Im just grateful that new cars have those warnings. Im ussually pretty good at remembering little things like this but I guess yesterday exhausted me. I have OCD so I have little rituals before getting in and leaving my car ex.

Step1: walk around and inspect the car for damages dings etc. and unlock.
Step2: get in and inspect the interior and adjust mirros
Step3: start the car
Step4: foot on the brake
Step5: release parking brake
Step6: make sure area is clear of pedestrians and other vehicles
Step7: shift to D and stay alert while driving.

Parking is just reverse.

🤣

Lol can you imagine 550 miles and the brakes were on 😱. I just wanted to state Im at 550 miles on the odo so ppl know how age of the vehicle and maybe gauge the damage I may have caused. Weird thing is Ive seen my cousin use this third pedal and the regular brake when a dog ran infront of my 07 CRV and it did stop the car faster.
