Going from 20-inch wheels to 18-inch wheels on a 2021 Passport Sport?

Been car shopping recently and I really like the 2021 Passport Sport, but the one thing about it that I don't especially care for are the 20-inch wheels. Looks-wise, I think they're fine; it's just that I prefer a smoother ride. And even though the ride quality on the Passport Sport that I test-drove was generally OK as is, I also test-drove a 2021 Pilot with 18-inch wheels right after test-driving the Passport, and the Pilot's ride had the sort of smoothness that I prefer. (Again, not that there was anything "wrong" with the feel of the Passport's ride, per se... it's just that the Pilot's ride was more along the lines of what I like, and I'm guessing that the different wheel sizes factor into that.)

Anyway, was wondering about a few things. First, if I decide to buy the Passport Sport but wanted to change to different tires/wheels (specifically, 18-inch wheels), is that the sort of thing that a new car dealership would typically be willing to accommodate? Or would a customer request like that be thought of as crazy? The impression I get from the dealership is that they just want to sell the car as is, and be done with it.

The other main question that I had is, which 18-inch OEM wheel/tire combination(s) would be best to just get the smoothest ride on a new Passport? Note, too, that I don't envision terribly much off-road use (if any) if I go ahead and buy the car. And last, but not least — approximately how much would going from 20-inch wheels to 18-inch wheels cost in total?

I just traded in my 2016 Pilot for a Passport Sport model. You won’t find much, if any, difference in the ride. I just bought a take-off set of Pilot wheels to put on the Passport but not for improving the ride. I want to put a set of winter tires on the Passport and the selection (and cost) of tires is greatly improved with using 18” wheels. The off-set is 55mm on both tires and overall height/circumference is very, very close. One other thing is that a lot of Passport owners are complaining of rim damage with the 20” wheels (rubbing on curbs). The low profile design doesn’t do much to protect the wheel if you get too close. If you’re doing it just for the ride save your money.
