It's amazing what regular oil changes with full synthetic oil, using premium filters and gasoline can do to keep your engine clean. I see a lot of people here (and other forums) trying to do oil changes as cheap as possible, or purchase gas at the sketchiest stations in town because they'll save 5 cents per gallon. 
Top quality oil, filters, and fuel will save you a lot of maintenance later on. I'm not saying this will take care of carbon build-up all the time for everybody, but it will for most.
