Passport_it_is, I have a new OEM "kick sensor" attached to the OEM valance panel that was taken off my Touring before delivery. I had a hitch installed which included a new valance and a new sensor with adapter. You can have the OEM valance with sensor for the cost of shipping from 92009. You may have to get the wiring harness. I do not know if all models have the same wiring.

thanks for the offer . It almost sounds like I need to do what you have done as I also want the hitch at some point. I know I really want the hitch (for bike/carrier attachment).. not sure of kick sensor. But I I decide on the sensor, sounds like I should do them both at the same time ?

If you go with an OEM hitch it comes with the new valance. If you want hands free, the hands free antenna for the hitch is much shorter than the non hitch one and requires an adapter to install it So the one I have will not do you any good. Are going to get the trans cooler? If so, be prepared to have deal with a strange noise on the 7-8 shift. But you will not need it if you are just going to be hauling bikes.

thanks for the advise. I am not sure about trans cooler at this point. In short term, all I need the hitch is for bike and cargo carrier, so I am OK without it.
Based on what your needs for the hitch are the trans cooler would be the last thing to get. And as pshadoa stated the strange noise on the 7-8 shift. I think the wiring harness would be more beneficial with regards to versatility with the hitch. It's really not that difficult to install, just got done with installing it last weekend.

How bad was the harness install? From the few videos I have seen, hitch itself is not too bad ...I keep reading about kick sensor issues with hitch ...anyway it is 25 degrees here and it will need to wait few months more ...

You sound confident with the hitch install and with that being said, personally don't think you would have any problems with the wiring harness! I also installed the adapter for the kick sensor and have had zero issues with it's operation. Works just as dependable as the original.

Hardest part about the harness install is removing the interior panel to gain access to the left rear corner where the harness connects and components mount. I tried fishing for the harness without removing it and couldn't access it. Once the panel is removed, its a matter of attaching two components and plugging 3 connectors. If you're only using your hitch for a bike rack you may want to consider an aftermarket hitch. I found 2 that install without removing or changing the stock valance panel, and if you do decide to use the remote sensor, the non-tow version will work just fine with aftermarket hitches. Good luck!
