Hello all,
Starting today the folding mirrors on my 2021 Passport Touring started making this scraping/rubbing noise when they fold in or out. This just came out of nowhere. I parked, folded them in, no noise. Came back to the car, started it, hit the mirror button and both mirrors started making the same noise.
Really weird. Anyone else had this issue?

Do you use automatic car washes by chance? Or do you live in an area with a lot of salt usage during winter? The automatic car washes can sometimes screw up folding mirrors especially if they are manually folded by an employee and then you try to use the automatic button to unfold. Sometimes enough salt can corrode the in workings of the mirror if not regularly rinsed out with clean water. A lot of folding mirrors from most every brand use plastic gears instead of metal so they are not super durable as well :/

Hi and thanks for the reply. While both those things are true neither of them have occurred in the past three or four weeks. And I fold the mirrors in every time I park in my garage, so I know for sure when it started. The weird thing was it just started in both mirrors at the same time.

I have the same issue with my '19 Touring on the driver's side but it only makes the noise when unfolding the mirror. I have an upcoming appointment with the dealer about the lights on my running boards and I will surely mention this to them.

Well I thought I'd take a second and update this post. This morning as I was going out for a walk I thought I'd take another look at the mirrors. I took the drivers side and gently tried to wiggle it. It made a slight noise like a seal had broken when I first moved it then it was quiet. So I tried the passenger side mirror, and the same thing happened. When I tried extending them after I backed out of the garage they were quiet again. Just the normal noise they make going in or out.
I'm guessing something got in there and gummed them up a bit but they seem fine now.
Thanks for all the replies!

I have, it comes and goes, I feel like they need to be lubricated somewhere.
