Does this car even have them ? Feet are ice cold after driving an hour with the heat cranked. Climate control is set to defrost and floor setting.

Assuming it does have them and I am an idiot -- where are the floor vents, and is it possible I have them closed ?

I would think all trims have floor vents, but not certain. I know my elite does.

Make sure that you have either just the floor or both vents options turned on at your climate control panel. And put your hand down in the floor area and see if you feel hot air.

Take it off defrost and switch to just heat, see if that blows heat all around.
Defrost should only go to your windshield. If it’s going to the floor there is a routing issue in the vents.

I am also having this issue and have an appointment to get this looked at. There is cold air blowing around under there and it freezes my legs. I have the vent on the highest heat setting, and just blowing on my legs - it is still cold. There is a silver thing (sorry I am not very technical - yet) under there that is ice cold and the coldness seems to be adding to the problem?

JustMe, I too, hope you find the solution to your heating problem. However, your photo of just a small portion of the PP's operating machinery shows the complexity of a modern automobile and how little there is for the average owner to do regarding maintenance. Thanks for sharing. Ken in PA

After some driving yesterday and turning the heat on my feet to warm up and dry off my shoes from the rain, I was thinking about those with this issue. My heater certainly warms my feet and legs and I hope you find a fix for this issue asap!

My appointment is January 2nd and will post an update with what they say...have a feeling they wont know either, but hope I'm wrong. These PA winters are too cold to not have the heater warming the legs/feet!! Plus for the price of the vehicle everything should work perfectly. I dont even have 1000 miles on it yet.

Why do you have to wait so long for an appointment? If that’s all the dealer is giving you, I’d bring it in day after Christmas and talk with a manager or can you go to another dealer.

And I‘m sure if you use just the upper vents it’s not enough. Do you have the heated seats? They work really well. I also used mine yesterday.

Yes I have the heated seats, steering wheel etc...I will let you know what they say...new issue... Friday is would not start. Roadside assistance jumped it and I took it to the dealership. Battery is testing fine and they had no problems starting it but were going to keep it and look at the leg heat issue. The next day they couldn't get it started. Battery is testing good. So they are keeling it till Friday to see if it happens again and if they can get the battery to fail??? As for the heat issue, i think they are just going to tell me it heats to the correct temp...but right now I am more concerned about it not starting. I only have about 900 miles on it:mad:

So my Subaru rental in Oregon has this issue! The floor vent blows only cold air when the defroster is on. It’s a rental for the week, so I don’t really care. To fix the fogging windows, I crack the two back windows and have the heat pretty high.

After 24 hours of so with the car parked in the rain I returned to the hotel tonite and saw the windows were still cracked! ? One reason I would never buy a rental car...

WOW - I sure miss my Passport. But loving coastal Oregon!? I just might be able to buy my Passport a two car garage here!!

The Oregon/Washington state region is one of the most beautiful in the nation, especially its coastal areas. It's completely different in weather and geology; desert to almost tropical. If you enjoy gardening its the place for you. My wife and I visited friends in the Anacortes area of coastal Washington and we were most impressed with the natural beauty there. There is the Cascades mountains to its east and the islands in the bay to the west. The housing might even be more affordable than HB and with a two-car garage for your PP!. Ken in PA :)

Happy 2020 Ken!

Coastal Oregon is truly amazing!

We drove from Astoria, thru Seaside, Cannon Beach, found some Goonies...down to Tilamook with a few more stops on the way. The weather is not as bad as I thought. It was actually rather pleasant. When I landed on 12/31, the rain and wind were sideways, but still tolerable as long as you aren’t out it for too long. And from what I was told, that’s about the worst it can get in the winter.

I love gardening, but I do need to look at a smaller yard, which might help in my search as so many want bigger...however, with my travel I just need something low maintenance and manageable.

Later this afternoon I am driving from Astoria to Newport, currently those two cities are my top choices. I’m going to stop by a shop tomorrow owned by one guy who specializes in Honda’s and just see what they are about. Astoria doesn’t have a local Honda specialist shop and the shop, and the one lane each direction highway 30 for 45 miles from PDX is risky. There can be black ice and trees fall. The residents often keep a chainsaw!

So will see what Newport has to offer for the airport drive to and from EUG and PDX.
And yes...the price comparison for HB and Oregon is crazy!

Hi Heather, and a happy 2020 to you too! Thanks for the detail stats and comparisons between HB and Newport, OR. I'll google the location and see just where it is. Your doing your 'homework' and do diligence before you jump in and spend a lot of money, time and emotional commitment to a new home. Best of luck and safe travels in the new year.

Just got home from picking my passport up from the dealer service center. The battery finally tested as bad so they replaced the battery and had no further issues with it not starting...so I guess I will find out if that was really the problem...I sure hope that was it. As far as the heating/vent issue: they said everything is functioning properly. Long story short, its most likely the cold air coming off the power steering module (in the picture posted earlier). It is nothing they can do anything about, thats how its designed. I might be able to cover it with cloth in the winter but make sure I remove it in warmer weather?
So, I will be trying to invent something...or wearing long johns to work....

Ok here is the outcome: I was told they needed to get a code from Honda so they could submit a ticket. That web site had issues and they were not able to get a code at the time. They did contact a field engineer and tried another passport, which acted the same way mine did. The verdict - It is just the plastics/interior that is cold and radiates cold air until the vehicle is warmed up. I was told to warm up my car before driving it. So I guess since it is not a mechanical problem and no one else in the world of Honda has ever complained about it, it is not the car, it is me. (he agreed) I asked if they could still submit a ticket when they can get a code, they said they would - but I'm not holding my breath.

I finally solved my freezing legs issue. Since the Honda dealership's service center could not find any problems with the floor vents and basically told me it was me and not the car, I ordered a part for $26. Shame I had to resort to this but I am not going to freeze again this winter! Mini car heated blanket pad....Other than that, I love my Passport!!

I can’t believe they didn’t find a fix for you on this!
Did you ever try and co tact Honda Corporate?

#33 ·
Have you all gone to a different dealer for the heater issues.
No way I could tolerate that in -29* weather! I’m barely functioning with 58* in my apartment all winter.
