Nothing Crazy to do it. I ended up just scuffing up the tips really really good with scotch-brite. Then used high temp primer and high temp flat black engine paint. I did 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint. The primer was scuffed again in between coats. Took just a Saturday to do to let the paint and primer dry really good. It takes about 10 minutes to removed the tips off the car. Take off the tips unless you want to paint the rest of the footlong piping behind them. Overall for $25 bucks in supplies I think it was well worth it. Curious to see how they hold up after a year or so of washes and salty NY roads.

It is not just the tip, but about a footlong section that comes off, super easy though. Slides right off the hangers and just 2 nuts on each side to remove.
