Hello all
About two weeks ago I purchased a 2021 Honda Passport EX-L, AWD. I always loved the way they looked and needed to do something quick as my 2014 Jeep Cherokee was making me nervous. I only had my Cherokee for 2 years before we had a replace a bunch of engine parts (basically a whole engine replacement) and it was hesitating while shifting gears (that model has a reputation for a bad transmission). I’ve heard Honda makes some of the best engines and some of the best/reliable cars, so I figured I’d give it a try.
Nice meeting you all, very excited to see what I learn here.

Unfortunately your Jeep had a "huge" transmission software issue with its ZF manufactured 948TE model. The Passport uses another ZF model, the new 9HP48 model. Unlike its previous trannies, it leaves the program shifting software up to each car manufacturer.
The only issue I have had is an occasional wonky shifting as it struggles to find the correct gear when going around 25mph (Note: I typically keep the fuel saver (green leaf) on which may have some affect on the occasional shifting issue). Enjoy your new ride!

Welcome and Congrats, I know it may be hard losing all your "friends" at the Jeep repair facility, at Honda dealers, you'll have to write down their names, as you'll forget their names by your next visit...!

Welcome to the circus! 😎 Do check in on the accessories threads for ideas and the maintenance boards for discussion of vcm/ auto start debates and discussion - it's great to have a car where the only things to talk about are how it's going to fare 200,000 miles from now! My last honda had 301,000 on the odo before she retired and I picked up the PP. My mom had a 96 accord with an odo that broke at 320,000 and she had it for a couple years after that. Hondas are great!

Congratulations on your Honda. You’ll love it. I’ve had two Pilots (2004 and 2012) and just bought a Passport. Only thing I ever had to do was routine maintenance. My mechanic always tells me “you’ll get tired of your Honda before it gets tired of you”. He has a Pilot with 300k miles on it, and its been through 3 of his kids learning how to drive.

A friend of mine owned 3 repair shops and was a instructor at a major auto repair school and if your asked him the best Japanese cars he would answer “Honda, Toyota and Nissan, in that order”
