First time driving the passport to are northern cabin 280km north of Toronto I hade the "BRAKE" message come up a few times, seems to happen when I was on tight bends on a two lane road driving 80-105 km and with and without oncoming traffic, I was way to the right side of the lane , any one else have this happen?

That's the CMBS (Collision Mitigating Braking System) coming on because it detected what it believes to be an obstacle in front of the vehicle. Honda tuned the CMBS to be very sensitive but you can reduce false triggers a bit by increasing it's detection distance in the vehicle's settings. You can also switch it off every time you start the car.

Here are some situations the vehicle's manual says the CMBS might get a false trigger.

My wife and i both have 2021's. Mine never gives the false "BRAKE" signal, however, i drove my wifes on a 200 mile round trip recently and her pp had the "BRAKE" signal come on several times during the trip. It seems that not all pp's are calibrated the same. I don't see it being a problem being it does not actually brake the pp automatically. If it did that would be a major problem.
I do like the idea of this safety device just incase we need it. I do often wonder how well it would work to prevent an actual collision??

I get it almost the whole 24 miles to and from work when the sun is shining thru the trees and making shadows. That won‘t happen for the next 5-6 months now though as we are in rainy season!

It does brake some times. The relative speed, proximity etc. being factors.

I have been braked on when a car moved into my space cushion immediately ahead. The braking was heavy and I was characterize as an over-reaction to the "threat" as there was not one. The issue is that we were on a limited access highway and the traffic behind me had to react quickly. Had I been in control there might have been a gentle brake application to smooth things out.

I hope they get it better on the newer vehicles.

Correct, and it's Honda that needs to improve it's sensing systems. My previous BMWs, Toyotas, and Kias performed much better with Collision management, lane keep assist, and active cruise. Honda's version on the Passport is not even as good as mediocre....It's about my only gripe I have with my Passport in addition to the gas mileage, which I expected to be mediocre when I bought it.

All of the time unfortunately.

Hi All - yesterday, as a car in front of me was turning I hit the gas and wham!! the collision avoidance system slammed the brakes, and I mean hard (my new '22 PP Elite). Then it seemed to be locked in a low gear until I hit the paddle shifters. I'm worried about what a hard brake slam like that does to the brakes (I've got 5K miles on the PP). Anyone? The low gear may have been on me accidentally hitting the paddle shifter. Thanks

There is a way to set the sensitivity through the settings menu.

It's not - happened on my 2022 Elite - just yesterday.

I'm a bit of an aggressive driver so I'm not comfortable with the CMBS either, in the situation you described my wife would have slowed until the car ahead completes it's turn before hitting the gas pedal but I would anticipate that by the time I get to that spot he would be gone so lets go, however, the CMBS has some issue with that type of driving which I don't blame it for, after all it's just a robot programmed with a set of parameters, one of which it recognized hence the hard brakes. But it doesn't usually apply the brakes unless it believes you are about to hit an obstacle - high speed + proximity to obstacle, more often it just flashes a "BRAKE!" messages at you and it shakes the steering wheel.

You can increase the detection distance of the CMBS or switch off if you find it bothersome. Lots of details in the owners manual.
