Hello,

I have a service appointment tomorrow afternoon, but I’m curious if anyone has had the problem I just started having on my 2019 PP with 6K miles.

I use drive mode (D not S) and when I accelerate the engine continues to rev after I’ve eased off the gas and when I take my foot off the gas the car revs down really fast to the point where it slows down rapidly. The best way to describe it is I feel like I’m driving a stick shift in first gear, when I should be in third or fourth.

The only coincidental things that could be related are I was on empty and filled my tank up the day before ( bad gas?) or I went through the car wash right before this started happening. I rode inside the car so I only put in neutral with one click, and then when the car wash was over I put my foot on the break and switch to drive like I always do. I go to the car wash a couple times a month though and this is never happened before.

Had anyone experienced this?

Thanks, I appreciate your input. - Mike

Sounds to me like it’s momentarily holding the gear so quick throttle response is there. After a few secs of no additional throttle input, it up shifts and the rpms rapidly drop. This would be normal. Not exactly sure that’s why you’re describing. You don’t have to be in sport mode for it to hold a gear for a second or two so you have instant power.

That makes sense, but it is definitely a lot different the last two days than it has ever been. For example I was just driving doing about 40 and I took my foot off the gas and instead of just coasting the engine sound like it was winding down and felt like I just downshifted two years in a stick shift.

I’ve also noticed coming off a red light or stop sign, the acceleration is not as powerful as it has always been. Like I mentioned the best way to describe it is imagine you were in a stick shift and you just stay in first gear going all the way up to 40, then if you take your foot off the gas it’s as if you shifted from 3rd to 1st.

Yeah, I completely understand what you are saying. Years ago I had a ‘02 accord v6 that at times would throw you through the front windshield if you weren’t wearing your seatbelt under the exact situation you described. I learned to be gentle when letting the off the gas after accelerating hard. It just holds the gear so it’s immediate insane engine braking.

I haven’t really noticed in the PP but I’m just over 2k miles now and don’t pay a lot of attention really. I came out a ‘18 Si coupe so I’m enjoying the comfort. It wouldn’t hurt to take it by the dealer and let one of their service people take a ride though.

Edit:I will say I notice slower take off acceleration from a stop at times. Seems like it has a small window off the start where if you put the pedal down some it goes pretty good. But just miss that window and you’re dead in the water unless you floor it.

I meant to reply last night but my kids were going crazy ? They said they found nothing at all wrong and then they took another passport for test drive and said it acted the same way.

He said if you accelerate really fast you can almost trip up the computer to where it has to figure out for a second what gear to put you in and that’s where the RPMs can fluctuate.Funny thing is it is driving normal again.

I’m wondering if their test fixed something and they didn’t even realize it.
