The other Hondas I've owned have shown the A1 maintenance code when I reach 15%. I noticed today that although I'm still at 40% oil life, my PP is showing that it's time for an oil change. Is there a problem here? Am I missing something?

The A1 light will show up letting you know that your next service will be an oil change and tire rotation in the future. It doesn’t mean you need to get it done immediately. When you get down to 15% the light will come back on along with the wrench icon. Thats when you should schedule your service appointment.

With 5k on odo, I would replace oil, filter and rotate tires

With ONLY 5K on the odo I'd wait until its actually advising you its time for this service, estimated at somewhere around 8-9K.

Your mileage (and comfort) may vary.
I agree with you. I have no intentions of changing the oil or rotating the tires until I reach 10% or 15% but I just think it's odd that the MM is displaying this when I still have 40% oil life remaining. It's never happened this way in either of my other Hondas.

I just had my oil and filter changed at 7,500 miles. My maintenance minder showed A1:15%

Driving highways and 7.5k miles is not same as Idle-Stop-Go City driving 5k. Temperatures are varied also depending on geography. Severe service intervals are also different.

Note 3,750 miles / 6,000 kilometers
Very true and I know that the MM reflects the kind of driving a person is doing and for it'll drop faster for a person who spends most of their time on city streets, but that doesn't explain why mine came on when I still have 40% of the oil life remaining.

Maybe related, maybe not. Last week (on my wifes 2020 Ody) a lone A1 appeared - it didn't have any percentage with it (which I too thought was peculiar).

As we already had an appointment to install the wireless cell phone charger (with 9100 miles on odo) I had the oil, filter, tire rotation performed.

I had my A1 Service pop up last week at a little over 5,900 miles, I did not look at what the Oil Life % was at, as I was happy to get that first oil change done.

My Service Advisor pretty much confirmed what Honda stated, it depends on how each of us are driving, not solely on the miles driven.

@MattyNice said that his A1 has been showing all along. Are you saying that yours hasn't been and that it just started showing recently?

Yeah it just started (last week), hopefully after his (Matt) is reset, it will appear at the proper times...

It’s not stating the service is due. It just shows it. I guess so you know WHEN it is due what that service is for. When you get down to the percentage that the service is required, you will get the wrench light stating it’s time. So, when my service is done and I reset it back to 100%, the symbol for the next service will display.

I agree. This can be accessed from the menu on the car. Maybe you accidentally got there?
