Can anybody tell me if there PP rolls a little when the e-brake is set? Also my armrest has an indent from my elbow, anyone else has this issue? (I have the cloth interior)
Took it to the dealer and apparently it's fine and the way it's supposed to be? Didn't feel like arguing with them.

Mine doesn't roll when I set the E-brake and when I put it in drive, it prevents me from moving forward until the brake is released.

As for the armrest, I haven't noticed an indentation in mine, but I have the leather interior.

The proper way to set an "emergency" or "parking" brake is to stop, put the vehicle in Neutral, set the brake, and then put the vehicle into Park. This prevents any slight movement of the vehicle which could cause the transmission pawl to have pressure put on it. When leaving, start the car, put it in Neutral and release the brake, then put it into the drive gear you want.

I have heard of some owner's having to actually have their car pushed slightly if they had parked on a grade and just put it into Park. The pushing allowed the pressure to be taken off the pawl and the shifter to then operate.

Strange in my 50 years of driving and over a dozen or more vehicles, I've never heard of this nor read about it in any owners manual.

I think if your goal is to take stress/torque off the Transmission Pawl then it would make sense to set brake in neutral (or keep you foot on brake in Drive and set it). I pull into the drive, while keeping it in gear, set the brake....then shift to park. keep vehicle from rolling that 1/2" or so and binding things up, if you're parked on a hill.

I use my parking brake all the time at the boat ramp with a boat behind it while on the ramp itself. It does not roll at all once the brake is set. As far as the armrest, I have cloth interior as well and use the armrest extensively. Mine does not have an indentation, although I feel as though it could in the future.

Thanks I know how to set an e-brake,that wasn't my question! Thanks for the "tip" though, but when the pedal goes to the floor doesn't matter what gear you use first it isn't going to hold. Both issues have been fixed, 2-3 clicks they way a parking brake should be.

Thanks for this description of using the e-brake. I've never put my PP in Neutral when applying the e-brake, but I can see the unnecessary strain that's put on the pawl when in Park.

I think the slight roll is a common occurrence in this car. I have it all the time, regardless if I use the parking brake or just put the car in Park.
I’ve also never read or heard about putting a car in neutral before applying the parking brake, except for cars with manual transmissions.

After a 2000 mile road trip, the armrest developed an indentation on my 2019 PP Elite (3500 total miles at the time). I took it to the dealer and they agreed the armrest should not have such an indentation after so few miles. They replaced it without question. Don’t settle for no from your dealer.

It has been my experience that when I fully depress the emergency and/or foot brake there is no movement forward or backward. My 2019 Elite PP now has 12,200 miles on it and there is no lasting depression on the adjustable armrest.

I’ve got 14,500 miles on mine now. No depression on the new armrest.
Don’t think I’ve ever applied my e-brake. I’ll head to the driveway and check it out.

Thanks this is good to know, though I think my wife won't do it this way, she'll probably put it in park first.

I agree with Cal. Since 1962 I've been putting my cars in Park first then applying the parking brake. Something about can't teach an old dog new tricks thing . . . .
