I bought a '22 Passport EX-L after looking at all of the competition because I liked the roominess, the excellent storage design of the center console, the driving dynamics, the simplicity and fit and finish of the controls, useful modern tech, and the overall comfort. It is just a dependable, non-fussy vehicle that feels well made and is a good value.

However, I feel like I compromised on the exterior design. To me, it is not a very attractive vehicle. I've heard some call it "dorky". But choosing a car is similar to finding the right house: you will unlikely love everything about it, and compromises have to be made.

I know it is a matter of personal taste, but what do you all think of the design?

Personally I think it looks more like a Ford Explorer. I prefer the front end on the 2019-2021. The tail lights on both are very close to the Explorer. Sadly car design hasn’t really improved. Well at least Honda designers aren’t as bad as GM.

Most automakers don't want their "regular" brands stealing buyers away from their "luxury" brands so they tone down the design of the "regular" brand a bit. If Honda had allowed their design team to go the route of the Kia Telluride while designing the Pilot/Passport, most Acura MDX buyers will be happy to save several thousand dollars by buying a Pilot/Passport instead of the upmarket MDX which is essentially identical to a pilot/Passport if you take off the body panels and the lush interior.
With that said, the Passport's design is not too shabby, but most importantly, the demographics that buy Honda SUVs are more concerned about quality and retained value over glamor. At least that is that's why I buy Hondas...not excluding the fact that I'm fed up with Acura dealers asking $100 for the same part that Honda dealers are listing for $75.

I've been driving Toyotas since 2001 and only realized Honda brought the Passport back in 2020 when a friend bought his. I was impressed with how much better it looked vs the old Passport, and liked it's ride and features. I think the 2022 looks a bit like an Explorer to me too - very nice 👍

Although I never really cared for Honda designs and am not sure what they were thinking with the unibrow design on the nose. I do like the look of the passport. I like the look of the current Accord and Odyssey. The new CRV and new Pilot are a step in the right direction. I get a lot of looks with mine and people ask me what it is. They tell me they didn't know Honda made it....

Love the look of the 2022 Passport, reminds me a lot of the original '70s Chevrolet Blazers/GMC Jimmy in terms of proportions. The square blockiness of the body makes it one of the few SUV where the Utility part hasn't turned into Useless....

I am biased because I own a 22 but I like the way it looks. It was time for a mid cycle refresh and as is increasingly the case the grille is going in the direction that all the newer Hondas are. But let's be honest, you likely will enjoy the look of your Passport depending on the year.

Either the ivtm4 or the 4 cylinder's mpg is the best reason to buy a Honda.
Roominess and a quiet ride (Touring/Elite) are the reasons to buy the Passport.
Price has always been an issue, with Hondas. They have been beaten up, by Consumer Reports, because of price.

I like the way it looks, but there are some things that I think could be improved: it could be a little squarer, less bulbous. I think the 2022 side profile looks a little better than the 2019-2021, personally i prefer the grille and the overall shape (especially from the side where the nose doesn't slope as much). However the rear quarter panel seems very large and fat compared to the size of the wheels. Putting a fatter wheel on it made the proportions look a lot better. I really liked the last gen jeep grand cherokee design, but the new one looks less rugged and more luxury, which i didn't really want. The kia sorrento loooked very nice, a good mix, but only at the top trim level and it's a little smaller than the passport. overall i like the 2022 passport, my main complaint is that i'd love for it to have the same power and awd but get 30mpg with some sort of non-plug in hybrid system

Personally I think the latest looks great, much improved, Trailsport trim looks a little better to me than the others but I'm buying the elite for a couple of things that I really don't want to lose from my '22 Defender 90 that I'm trading it in for.
