Over the weekend I tested and changed out my reverse light bulbs. As you all know the OEM halogen bulbs are pretty much useless, so I purchased 2 different pairs of bulbs.

The 1st set is from Auxito (Amazon) and claims 1300 lumens white light. Total 2600lm Extremely bright. Only $20 a pair, no straight forward warranty or support available.

The 2nd set is from Diode Dynamics. Their "about us" page gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling so I bit the bullet and bought the 7440 XPR set. Not cheap at $90, but they come with a 3 year warranty, and 30 day money back guarantee. One of their selling points also got me thinking... Brightness. All Diode Dynamics LED lighting is rated with accurate, measured lumen figures, not calculations or guesses. We test the true output in-house, and provide you the real numbers to compare.

As you can see (hopefully it comes through in the pictures) just because a brand advertises a specification, doesn't mean that's what you'll actually get. The XPR set rated at 700 lumen each / 1400 lumen total are significantly brighter than the Auxito brand that claims 1300 lumen each / 2600 lumen total.

My conclusion: for $20 the Auxito brand is an inexpensive upgrade over the OEM halogen bulbs. But if you're after a significantly brighter bulb then Diode Dynamics crushed the mass produced competition.

I ran a Diode Dynamics light bar an my FJ.
Great product, super customer service.

Not sure if they have them again. They stopped selling bars a few years back.

Thanks for the link and reminder.
