I just bought a 2021 Honda Passport Elite AWD and it is a wonderful car.
For possible future needs, I'd like to know what is involved with having a dealer installed "hitch package" and if anyone has done this to install a hitch mounted power chair carrier or other handicap things like that?

1. Is the dealer installed hitch package suitable for this use?

2. Can you open the rear hatch with a power chair carrier if there is no chair on it?

3. Does it need or use the power hitch plug for lights or operation?

4. Is just installing an aftermarket hitch receiver good enough and the more pricey and different height dealer installed hitch receiver package not suited or not needed?

5. Does the added weight of a hitch receiver tow package change the feel or ride or anything else on the car?

6. Anything else I should know?

Factors:
a) price is not a concern as far as aftermarket or dealer installed.
b) I don't want anything sticking out if nothing is installed on the hitch receiver. (hit my legs!)

Thanks so much for your help and suggestions.
Aloha

PS: I also have a Toyota Tundra pickup truck with a tow package so trailer towing is not needed for the Honda Passport.

The dealer installed hitch should would just fine. It is a class III hitch, no different in that respect than any other class III hitch. As for all of the other questions you would be well advised to go to a Mobility company that specifically deals with people with mobility issues and the various mobility options available to deal with mobility issues. They will have a variety of options from carriers to full vehicle modifications.
