I was naive to think that my dealership would provide me with incentive to swap my wheels and tires for more capability. They wouldn't discuss a credit for the OEM wheels or tires. They did offer to store them for me until I can find a buyer online.

Has anyone had experience with a dealer providing a credit for the OEM wheels and tires?

If Honda really wants this vehicle to take on Subaru or possibly truck based SUVs, they should have a program for exchanging the 20" street setup - at a minimum offer to exchange for 18" that they mount on the Ridgeline.

If your wheels and tires have exceptionally low mileage (almost "new") some tire shops will give you credit as a trade-in if you buy new wheels and tires from them. I always see a stack of new take offs at the local Les Schwab Tire Centers in my area.

Could be a WIN-WIN $$$ profitmaker for the Honda dealership . . . switch wheels/tires off a new Black Edition Ridgeline with wheels/tires off a new Elite Passport. Dealerships already readily attach Dealer Installed Options tags onto new vehicles, typically vehicles they showcase in their showroom.

Dealership can upcharge you for the switch (dealers incur costs, such as service techs, whether you like 'em or not), perhaps something like $500 . . . . after all, you should have to pay more if you want something 'off menu.' Oh, and the dealership would likewise profit by the upcharge on their 'modified' Ridgeline with the 20's off the Passport . . . perhaps additional sticker of $1000. Pilots could also be involved in this type of 'swap,' however they are coming equipped with OEM 20's on many trim levels, too.

Obviously would only be possible if negotiated at time of purchase, with a willing dealer and willing buyer, AND dealer has proven results that Ridgelines sell quicker and for more $$$ with 20's.

Perhaps some dealerships have tried this swap deal in the past, but it appears to me majority of dealerships get GREEDY and install aftermarket wheels/tires on new vehicle, put vehicle in showroom, charge full retail for those wheels/tires (no credit for take-offs), then retain the OEM stock ones to sell at retail to someone else.

I had my dealer swap the wheels prior to delivery. There was no line item charge or adjustment to the price I paid which means the dealer came out ahead in the deal. Honda seems to have dropped the ball on the issue as there are no options for wheels that are better suited to off pavement driving. Seems weird to not offer smaller wheels as an option on a vehicle intended for off pavement driving.

Well done though! No one I know has gotten a wheel change for no cost.
