Dash mounts - options for the Passport

In this thread, please post the accessories you use to mount your phone to the dash, with a link and pictures showing the placement and your experience.

Scosche power magnetic mount
I like the blue light and the position of the phone, but it does slide off on rough bumps. The plate on the phone was placed on the bottom, not to interfere with the wireless charging. If the plate was on the center it would stay in place. I give it a 4 it of 5. I bought the dash mount, but with this one, I don’t have to worry about the adhesive residue and it has a lot of range.

I just lay my iPhone in the little flat area under the dash, when I plug in the USB, I use Apple Play and have no need to see my phone, is there a reason why you need to be able to access it?
cheers
SWMBO likes this one. It takes up one of the cup holders but has good access.
Here is another flaw on the passport. To play music from a USB drive you have to disconnect the phone to use the USB port on the dash. My 17 accord could do both, by having the flash drive on the center console enabled for the usb drive, but not on the Passport, So it is either one or the other. One work around is to upload the usb drive to my Honda Music and you could play the stored music, while using nav on Android Auto. That day I left the USB drive on the port and used Android Auto from the phone (sorry apple users, carplay won’t work from phone only), youtube can also work (while parked ? or for passengers).

This is what I do. I dumped a ton of music on my Honda music and don’t need to worry about my iPod or USB with music on interfering with needing to even touch my phone.
This can go on the dash, but I use it on the windshield. Absolutely love it. My parents liked it so much they got one for their Subaru. https://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Windshield-Mount-Galaxy-Retail/dp/B00BJUE88U
I use the iOttie phone mounts on my cars. Windshield and dash mounts, suction cups have never fallen off. Great extension of the support arm. Durable. They also have a QI charging model.

If you have an iPhone you can just plug it into the usb>phone charger and it will mirror your display with your contacts, Text, phone, calendar, maps and a couple other things.

Not certain this works with all phones, but I’d bet it does.

I have bought several mounts and holders from proclipusa for previous vehicles and have been very happy with them. They have good pictures on their site.
In before Wrascal brings up the Dash Mount Gun Rack...(lol)

Good point! I’m so used to using a phone mount. Going to really appreciate car play when I get my PP!!

Until I hit the communist line (states that prohibit carry), then I use these:

I can personally swear that one of these worked for me last Feb.; although the bad guy tried he was unable to open it.

I’m in Jersey. Doesn’t get much worse.
Hey Wrascal, that is very close to what I got,

Link: Amazon.com : Hornady Steel Keyed TriPoint Lock Box, Portable Gun Lock Box, Travel and In-Home Security Box for Valuables, Approved by TSA for Air Travel- XL, 10 x 8 x 3 inches- 98152 : General Sporting Equipment : Sports & Outdoors

I wanted those hi-tech round keys, the lock box fits perfect in the rear under-cover space and I bought a small master lock and connected it to the chrome tether mounted on the left behind the back seat...
Initially (many years ago) I poo - pooed them because I felt the case was too thin.
After my experience I now believe they're well worth $20.

When traveling in areas where I shan't be legally holding (call me a scuflaw but its better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6) I use this 16# box (overnight hotel stays):

Not sure if I understand w/r to those safe boxes. Do you guys actually mount them somewhere in the car ? If not, any of these can be stolen and open with time. I am close to Chicago and seems as every other week there is a video clip of pickup pulling to the ATM, couple guys loading ATM on the bed and driving away. So I figure, box like this would not be an issue.

Mine sits in the drivers side rear cargo slot, which is just behind the Subwoofer, I ran the cable under the rear deck-cover and connected it to the chrome tether mount, located on the left behind the back seat..., sorry I don't have a pic at this time.. but it is all well hidden and locked in place...
Mine is tethered to the front seat rail and sits under the drivers seat. Of course these tethers are by design quite difficult to cut (and impossible to simply yank off by hand). Now if the bad guy happens to have power tools with him them they're more vulnerable.

Question? Do you think he can outrun my GSD? or a 9mm?
Wrascal, I am trying to understand what you trying to do. So this is a "secret box" which you use to hide/transport valuables/firearm ? Obviously, this will not help you if you are getting car-jacked at the red light as you will never get enough time to pull your 9mm out.

I guess if I was some sort of "cash collector" ... I could see purpose of such setup ..
You obviously don't understand southern culture; here (in Alabama) residents can legally / publicly wear a gun on their hip. I think it's 21 years and over but don't know for sure. Perhaps thats a contributing factor as to Alabama not yet having a mass shooting - we can/ will shoot back.

Openly displaying your gun is OK / however to carry it concealed requires a carry permit - issued by the county sheriffs. The sheriff in turn runs a background check and if you're clean (by state law) they MUST ISSUE the person a permit. I carry mine concealed. Of course felons, drug + domestic abusers, etc are prohibited from ownership and carry rights.

But sometimes I must leave my gun behind - Iike for trips to the courthouse, schools, etc., then I lock it up in this box.
Also, when on cross county trips I must secure it when traveling thru some states (Wash, Ore, Nev, Cal, NM) all forbid me the right to carry in their states last fall.

Even better for me, in Bama Mil. Retirees over 65 years pay nothing for this permit! For all over 65 years is half price. I believe 5 year permits for the rest are $100 / $20 year.

Boooo to those communist states.
