Anyone have advice or an opinion on using Costco for wheels and tires? I will be changing from 20" wheels to 17" wheels. I will probably have to buy the new wheels online, not through Costco.

The tires with install are cheapest for me from Costco, but I wonder if they would have an issue with changing out the wheels.

Thanks in advance.

Never bought wheels through Costco but I have bought tires most recently my sons snow tires, compared to the service I’ve received from Discount and Les Schwab, Costco was far better.

They may question or void the warranty by the downsizing of the wheels by 3”, I know when I ordered my 17” wheels and tires from Discount he didn’t have them in stock so he called the Oregon store and while on the phone I could hear the guy asking what vehicle they were going on where he said “A 2021 Passport” and I could hear the guy say “not that often you see people going down in wheel size”.

If your Costco is anything like ours don’t call you’ll never get through, just go in and ask. With the new tire size they are very close to the same size as stock with no rubbing issues.

If you find the wheels you like on Costco's site, go for it! The problem I had with the Lynnwood WA Costco was ordering my KO2, they stated we can't get them, so ordered them from TireRack and had them in 2 days. Just had a moblie tire guy mount them at my house. I'll never go back to wasting half a day at the tire shop to have tires mounted.

Unless you have a very laid back Costco, you won’t be able to have them install the tires. At our Costco, they are very stern about only installing what is printed on the sticker in your door jamb. They will sell you whatever you want, but they won’t install them. It’s aggravating to say the least. Good luck!

How did you determine the quality/reputation so as to pick a competent "mobile tire guy" ?
Did wheel/tire also get balanced ?
Manual torque set to 94 lb-ft (127 N·m) ?
Cost per tire or cost for all 4 tires ?

I'm just having tires m&b not my engine rebuilt. I picked the company with the earliest availability. I've used 2 different companies thus far: 1) for the KO2 , 2) for my snow tires, both with the same results of "no issues". The 2nd company I believe was owned by Tirerack, not 100% sure and they were cheaper. The cost varies regionally. Plus, I always tip anyone that does work at my house. A moblie tire shop is the best thing since sliced bread.😂

I have bought four sets of tires from Costco in the past. Overall good experience, but they are pretty busy So had to wait for an open appointment. Not sure about going outside of what is on the doorjam though.
