Dodge has come a long way in recent years. Friend has one that is about to hit 300k of hard miles pulling a loaded cargo trailer, a big one, a majority of the time. Full-size trucks in general have become more luxurious and GMC and Dodge are the stand outs imo. Almost looked at the Ram over the passport but they get expensive quickly and just can’t swallow the low mpg.
When your brand's reputation was as horrible as Dodge once was, you don't have to improve much to be significantly better.

It is my understanding that Dodge no longer manufactures trucks (like for maybe 10 years now).
I believe the Ram name now belongs to Fiat, or maybe onto to itself.

Regardless I follow the Ford line, with the GM line as a close second.

Having worked in Auburn Hills for Chrysler, it's just a branding change. Same people working on the product as before... Dodge was to be a car / crossover brand... Ram was all the trucks. Again. Same everything except the brand and badging. Most still call it a "Dodge Ram".

Yeah, it’s just RAM now for the trucks. Takes time to change the memory. Anyway, they make a nice truck. Don’t see myself ever buying one but I pretty much check out all vehicles as just something I like to do.

Is Consumer reports a reliable resource? I just drove a new Honda Passport Touring and really liked it. But consumer reports is a fairly low reliability score. Over the years I have own 4 Honda’s (the most recent was a 2007 Accord which seemed to be bullet proof). I am use to having very reliable vehicles so the last thing I wanna do is end up with something that has to go in the shop on a regular basis. Thanks.

Consumer Reports started bashing Honda (in their magazine) in 2006.
Nowadays, Honda doesn't get any positive exposure, in CR.
When the Passport debuted in 2019, CR posted a youtube video bashing it, yet at the end of that same video, CR mentions that they had not tested or received a Passport.

My 2019 Passport has a recall for something with the infotainment. I am expecting to get a 2nd recall, for the fuel pump.
I've owned many Hondas/Acuras in the past and have never had to take any of them to a repair shop, so in my case...CR is correct, when awarding Honda a low score.

As far as reliability is concerned, Hondas are great as long as you don't compare their record to Toyota's.

Thank you. Currently my wife drives a Toyota RAV4. Absolutely no problems. She wants something a little bigger. Pilot and Highlander are to big. Passport is perfect but cr reviews concerned me. Thanks again

Toyota and Honda are still the kings of reliability. We have several family members with Pilots over the last 6 years and all have been solid. Passport is same platform as the Pilot they rolled out in like 2017 or so, meaning they’ve worked the bugs out. Infotainment issues are the most prominent issues I see from most manufacturers to be honest, because technology people want is changing so fast, the car makers are trying to keep up and changing things often. It’s not like the old days when you could shove a standard DIN radio in with a tape player and leave it that way for 5 years with just a few button updates, haha. I personally don’t think it’s fair to ding a car heavily for radio issues, because that’s not what you’re paying the $40k for, and are usually minor software fixes they have to figure out and update.

So drivetrain and suspension wise, Honda is just as fantastic as it used to be from what I’ve seen... knock on wood.

My 2 cents.

I'm not sure if the 5" screen version of the 2019 Passport EX-L and Sport's infotainment system is being recalled.
I think that the EX-L Passports, starting in 2020 have the 8" infotainment system.

Consumer Reports is a waste of time when you have a website like this as a source for information. If there is one thing I know about internet enthusiast forms for vehicles it is that you'll get honest opinions and legitimate complaints spelt out in extensive detail. There are many people out there that will just have an axe to grind, and that is primarily what Consumer Reports is for, but overall I trust people on this website or others like it more than I would and entity like Consumer Reports.

CR has become more of a paid advertising service for companies that pay for just that.
Go with the real word of mouth forums like this one.

Consumer Reports rates the Passport lower, and the Pilot and Ridgeline higher... yet if you did not know, they are the same vehicle from the front doors forward. Same engine, drive train, dash, systems. etc. A few cosmetic differences, (front doors forward) but pretty much the same. I think even the same wheel base... just depends what you what behind you. So, how do they rate reliability and dependability any differently?

Not just Consumer Reports, most of the mainstream car magazine companies are sellouts to the highest bidder. Motor Trend, in my opinion, is the worst offender but Consumer Reports is more veiled with the 💩 they put out.

I don't even believe Consumer reports when it is favorable news. CR is nothing more than a data point as is JD Power as well. What causes a bad ranking? A terminal engine failure or a wireless charger that doesn't work? I'd rather see the weaknesses and assign a weighted value to them myself. Forums where generally folks like to complain is a good way to see pattern issues and car complaints as well. I watched this forum for a bit as I was concerned about the 9 speed but no theme emerged but I did notice a theme of some type of connection issue with the radio and the dash that now has a warranty extension. The beauty of Honda and Toyota is their resale gives you an out if you have a POS. Honda quality has gone downhill over the years. Those Hondas and Acuras of the late 80's and early 90's (made in Japan) were gems. The build quality of the stuff that comes out of Alabama (where the PP is built) is hit and miss. I've been fortunate so far the build quality of my Passport is much better than the Ridgeline. There PP is a strong value, a good type of tool pretty much does everything but hybrids are going mainstream and the next CRV will be bigger so I don't see the Passport going more than another generation if that. 22 mpg isn't going to cut it anymore.

I wouldn't rule out the Highlander, it's narrower and only slightly longer than a Passport making garage egress easier. I was shopping for a Highlander as I was fed up with my Ridgeline but they are IMO a trim level more expensive than a Passport but they don't have a timing belt to deal with so when you get to the 7-10 year range of ownership you don't have a mandatory $1500 repair to deal with or start thinking about getting someting else. Also they're likely to require less transmission fluid changes which on the PP can get pricey. Right after I got the Passport the CVT failed in our 15 CRV (our third CRV) so I'll be going Toyota for the next round as there are no more Hondas that interest me (I'd prefer not to have a CVT and a Turbo). Either the next purchase or the one after that is going to be a Hybrid anyway and Toyota has earned it. Trying to get a RAV4 Hybrid now and pickings are slim.
