CMBS indicator

The CMBS indicator lights up temporarily when I start the car, and appears to be working. Occasionally I'll get the "BRAKE" alert, which is fine. But when I push the CMBS "off" button on the lower left, I see no message or indication on the dash. The manual says a "driver interface" message should appear for five seconds, so I assume something's amiss.

Supposed to light up when it is switched off, but nothing happens. Anyone else experiencing this?
