My single biggest complaint is that there is no center console on the Passport. The arm rests are nice, but nothing beats having the large console for storage and arm comfort. Guessing that it is absent due to the gear selector being flush and not wanting to create any barriers.

My solution was to adapt one of the various after market center consoles with a hand-made crochet cover for the plastic base. It sits flush and tight on top of the center storage and it is functionally exactly what is needed.

People seem to love or hate the captain chair style armrest. I personally like that you can raise and lower the armrest as sometimes I like it high, low, and other times I fold it up completely. Plus, it’s actually easy to use that big center console.

Thanks for thinking of me - but that'd be an unworkable idea (ammo is heavy = hit the brakes and it'll be in the windshield).

Actually, it sits very stable at about elbow height. I placed a heavy foam insert inside the base, and it is fixed at a width which allows it to sit snuggly between the side rails of the Passport center storage area. The crochet cover keeps the form insert lodged in the base, more pleasing to the eye, and covers some of the hard plastic edges. And, its very easy to just slide the center storage top back to expose the front section beneath, or just pick up the whole thing and remove if not needed temporarily. I was very surprised at how well it works, honestly, As a last resort, it was pretty much a 'hail mary' that scored a touchdown for me

I'm not very confident in the strength of the roll-up cover on the factory console. Have you had any issues arise from having your custom console on top of it?
