The carbon-fiber patterned console cover in my new Passport was just ruined by a sunscreen spill. Literally ate away a 3 inch area of the surface. So bummed. Can anyone assure me that this is replaceable? Idea of cost?

Yeah I can't believe it ate away the surface like you describe. Are you sure the sunscreen oils didn't just soak into the material and cause discoloration? Did you try a toothbrush and some rubbing alcohol or dish soap to pull the oils out?

Yikes, pics? I agree with jhmumr it shouldn't have eaten it though the oils can loosen up thing materials, I've see that before. I assume this was after market item? Have you contacted manufacturer? Maybe they will replace it.

Tried soap, but the sunscreen definitely reacted with the plastic. I think heat was a factor; it was in direct sunlight. So bummed. New car, not after market part.

Wow. I think if I were you I’d take it by the dealer. They should report the issue to Honda because they probably expect their cars to withstand a little sunscreen. The part is cheap enough that maybe they’ll do you a solid and fix it for free. Doesn’t hurt to ask!

Wow! That sucks big time.
As an avid sunscreen user because of skin cancer, I would also look into another sunscreen.
If it can eat thru plastic, it can’t be good for your skin!

Plastic does easily damage. I laid a dry incense stick that looked like something that you would use to light a firecracker with, on my plastic shift cover, for a few days. When I moved it, the plastic had crinkled, in a straight line, where the stick had been.

People better be careful with greasy food items, as that flat area seems a natural staging place for Fries and other fast food its while driving...!

I love the center console. Great place to press on when writing, for phone, food, etc..I thought I had stained mine with something. It was either ranch or coke I believe but a good firm rubbing w a wet rag got it after multiple tries over a week or so. I’m extra careful now as it does seem stain prone.

I also jacked up my console. I thought someone here did a wrap on their center console, but had zero luck finding that post.
