Decided to finally allow dealer to work on our Passport,
scheduled service to be include:

1) Campaign 21-086:6FD00 MultiModel Hood Latch Striker Safety [never completed the Recall for Hood Latch from back in 2021], they installed 60110-TG7-305 Hood Striker Kit
2) Campaign 23-008:6AX00 MultiModel Auto Idle Stop Restart Software Update, TSB 23-008
3) I commented about my battery/charging system, & informed advisor that my ScanGauge never showed voltage readings above 12.8V. Service Manager came out and started with his blah-blah about new vehicles today & electronic battery sensor & AGM batteries . . . all the standard talk to placate customers. [Note: we haven't driven Passport for a week, and dealership just few miles away] We went out to vehicle, I put my Fluke meter on battery, and showed him 12.2V reading. He said that is normal [??!?] but they would need to test for draw and test alternator. Workorder states:
"50HOZ00: Perform GR8 Test. Battery failed GR8 Test, Replace battery"
"50HOZ07: Test Code B6642-TS3P5 failed battery test *Replace Battery
"Installed 31500-TZ7-AGM100M"

All services/parts under warranty

Got home, immediately checked quality of their work and verify battery was actually replaced.
No fingerprints anywhere, no shoe marks on freshly cleaned mats. No marks anywhere, quality work, until
Removing front shroud, immediately noticed 1 (of 10) clips missing
Removed resonator, removed battery cover, removed battery - to verify battery production date.
Stamped date on new battery showed 2022 week 46 production (y)
Called service advisor about that missing clip, and 15 minutes later a tech arrived in our driveway in the dealerships courtesy shuttle Odyssey with a new clip in hand, and installed it. And left me an additional clip "just in case."

Never experienced no-start situation as others have posted in this forum, but we do empathize with their frustration.

Hopefully this TSB 23-008 Auto Idle Stop Restart Update along with their new 650-CCA battery will extend our time a few more years before we have to purchase a better quality aftermarket H6 760-CCA AGM battery.

Not sure about the '20 model year, but in my 2022, the MID tells me why the auto-stop is not engaging.

After the car sitting for a week, the message was mostly to the tune of "getting the car to temperature or battery charging" message even if the car had been driven over 30 mins, it still didn't engage. Only after being driven over 100miles in two days did the system start working again.
How do get the reasons for non activation to show on the screen? IIRC, I think I would get an occasional blanket message but it's not like if you're at a red light and the idle stop doesn't activate it displays a reason.

Actually, that's exactly what it does for me. It tells me (sometimes gives one/two reasons) why auto-start-stop is not happening.

Around 1:26 in the video below shows the reasons why it wont work. The video does mention recharging...

2022 CRV engine would not shut down. Several times at dealer to troubleshoot. They finally replaced the battery and it works again. Fingers crossed.
It makes sense since the car thinks the battery is not being charged up so it would never shut down. This happens a lot when the battery is always depleted causing the sulphate to build up on the plates which cause the battery to lose charge. It just gets worse and worse. The best way to prolong your battery is turn off stop and start function.

Older rigs get the valve adjustment, starter, and starter relays replaced I believe.
Curious where you got that info? I brought my 19 in for the TSB and just got the software update. Today, less than 2 weeks since the update the no restart issue has reappeared. My battery was also replaced by the dealer in July… I’m thinking that at minimum a valve adjustment should be done…

I believe you usually do it when you do the timing belt and everything which is around every 100k miles. However, it's only done if they are noisy which is very rare.

Its 23-009 warranty extension. If you are in Canada it might be different or not out for you guys. Honda of Canada is separate from AHM.

I can understand valve adjustments, but how does new starter and voltage regulator can fix this ongoing problem with Idle Stop. I hope Honda will pay through their nose for this nasty debacle!

Problem in my case wasn't with disabling Idle Stop but with not being able to re-start a car after short stop at the store. You can disable this engineering disaster manually or with device, but all system is so poorly designed that car needed to be jumped several times. And to prevent any misunderstanding- all of this with good new battery, good alternator and starter that was able to crank when good battery is jumped (cables from the other vehicle or 100% charged jump pack).
