Swap starter relay with something else similar in the relay such as AC compressor. This is the type of thread I was looking for today. 2019 Passport Touring, now we've had 3 no-start issues recently. The last two were this weekend and today. On the weekend (Sat), drove about 100 km, got home, unloaded the car and went to re-start it, dead, won't start. Took the other car, didn't boost it. The next day (Sun), Passport started no problem on it's own, no boosting, no nothing.
Next day (Monday) Passport starts fine, wife drives to work - 35 min away. At lunch, goes to leave,Passport won't start.
This can't be a battery issues, and batteries don't magically recharge themselves sitting in the driveway without the car running.
There must be a bad connection, or some piece of software preventing it from starting...
Anyone else having this issue, i'd love to hear your stories...
I think a lot of these German cars have separate battery just for the start and stop system or they just have really big battery.I don't get the whole trickle charging thing. I've bought or leased three new vehicles in the past eight years and they've all had autostop, An Audi Q3 followed by a Q5 and then a Land Rover. I've never had any issue with the battery needing charging. If it turns out I need to hook it up like that I won't be buying another Honda. Maybe I just haven't owned my vehicles long enough to run into any issues with the battery, or maybe there's something a bit different about the way Honda is doing things with their electrical systems vs other manufacturers. This is my first Honda, it's just a few months old now and I've always hated autostop but as far as i know (sadly) it's implemented exactly like this across the industry at the moment. Someone needs to bring legislation to allow the autostop feature to remain off.
I think they just changed the requirement for it to activate. You can’t have both.I have a 20 EX-L. The auto stop start rarely activates during the winter months. However, this winter has been on the mild side. I had the update done yesterday and today with a warmed up car outside temp in the high 30's F and no climate controls on, I couldn't get it to activate. Wonder if my battery is on the way out or stop start will rarely activate. I'd be fine with it rarely coming on.
It makes sense since the car thinks the battery is not being charged up so it would never shut down. This happens a lot when the battery is always depleted causing the sulphate to build up on the plates which cause the battery to lose charge. It just gets worse and worse. The best way to prolong your battery is turn off stop and start function.2022 CRV engine would not shut down. Several times at dealer to troubleshoot. They finally replaced the battery and it works again. Fingers crossed.
I believe you usually do it when you do the timing belt and everything which is around every 100k miles. However, it's only done if they are noisy which is very rare.Curious where you got that info? I brought my 19 in for the TSB and just got the software update. Today, less than 2 weeks since the update the no restart issue has reappeared. My battery was also replaced by the dealer in July… I’m thinking that at minimum a valve adjustment should be done…
