Brand new 2020 EX-L diff leak (happy ending)

So my brand new EX-L with less than 40 miles has a rear diff leak. I had a Ridgeline prior and left a bed mat on the garage floor and when I came in from walking the dog I noticed a drip mark on the matt. I assumed it was residue but after another 35 miles or so there was another drip. I slid under and wiped it off but there was yet another drip mark after a short drive. Now I went on the web and tried to find junkyard pictures of the diff trying to get an idea of where the vents were etc. I must have gone under there 15 times. There case would be "wet" even after a short trip around the block. I thought it was an axle seal but after further investigation it was up high on the case but not on top of the case. Turns out there was a bolt up there with a washer and it was coming from there. Instead of dealing with the dealer and all of the aggravation, I simply put a 12mm socket on it and tightened it with a fair amount of pressure from my thumb only. Just drove about 40 miles, went under, and nice and dry. Hope this is not a sign of things to come, I really like this Passport.

Hi,I recently change the differential fluid of my 2019 passport and notice some leaks too. And i think its also coming from that breather. Do you have a picture or can you describe further the location of this bolt. I want to check if i can tighten it a lil bit. Thanks.
It's not a vent or breather in my case. It's a sealing bolt. If I look at the Honda parts rear diff, it's #18 and #23 (bolt and washer). It's NOT the fill or drain bolt. Basically if you are looking at the rear diff from the back of the car, it's the highest bolt on the case that would be facing you. It was a 12mm and had a washer. At the time I could see liquid working its way through gap between the washer and the bolt. It was very hard to find at first as the PP was brand new and fluid looked clear coming down the case but that bolt was not tight against the washer for sure. I doubt It would have gone over 1000 miles before it was out of fluid or would have made some strange noise. Got really lucky on this one.. I actually topped off the diff after this and nothing came out when I pulled the fill plug. I'll try to take a photo.

It's not a vent or breather in my case. It's a sealing bolt. If I look at the Honda parts rear diff, it's #18 and #23 (bolt and washer). It's NOT the fill or drain bolt. Basically if you are looking at the rear diff from the back of the car, it's the highest bolt on the case that would be facing you. It was a 12mm and had a washer. At the time I could see liquid working its way through gap between the washer and the bolt. It was very hard to find at first as the PP was brand new and fluid looked clear coming down the case but that bolt was not tight against the washer for sure. I doubt It would have gone over 1000 miles before it was out of fluid or would have made some strange noise. Got really lucky on this one.. I actually topped off the diff after this and nothing came out when I pulled the fill plug. I'll try to take a photo.
Thanks! I will look for it tomorrow. Is it on the center or more to the driver or passenger side. If you can post a picture it will help a lot in finding this bolt.

is it above the filler hole?
