So for the first few weeks, pressing the brake peddle to start the Passport was easy- it felt soft and easy to press.

But over the past week, I've noticed that my brake peddle is very, very hard to press when I'm starting the car. Like it doesn't move at all with light pressure and I really have to put significant leg force on it to get it pressed in enough to start it. It's been like this every time I start it for the past week.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes, I actually checked that first. Also, after the engine starts, then brakes are "normal" and can be pressed with ease. It's only when the engine is off that the brakes feel like they don't want to move.

This happened to me once during the winter when I had to park outside at my brothers and it was about 22*. Also, the start didn’t click over the first time, want to say I had to try 3 times?
No idea why, but only did this once.

Yep, I took mine to the dealer. They told me they could not replicate it, and that the system was not producing any error codes. I told them it's only like that when it sits for a couple hours, but I didn't have the means to leave the vehicle with them overnight.

Mine still does it all the time. I just ignore it now.

Interesting....sounds like something a dealership would say 🙄 lol

I’m fine with it as long as it’s not messing anything up or won’t ruin anything in the long run

I have a 2019 Touring with 8400 miles. Mine started doing this about a mouth ago, happens only when vehicle sits for more than one day. I'm a snowbird and Passport sat for five months this past winter and started normal when I returned home. It starts fine , but I have to put much pressure on brake pedal.

out of curiosity, was it really cold the night before and your Passport sat out in the cold air?
that’s the only thing I could contribute my one time issue to?

Not cold and Passport was garaged. It has happened five times in the last month. Only when it sits for more than one day.
That’s even more bizarre. I’ll follow along to see if there are anymore further posts.

Mine often sits for a week in my garage and no issues.
only one I had was back over Christmas outside at my brothers and it was 22*.

Just searching for answers on this AGAIN, as it happened to me this morning.
I was parked in my garage, not super insulated, but decent. It was 47* outside last night, so maybe 55* in the garage and I last drove it on Monday. I think it took about 7 tries to actually start today. The dash lights come on, infotainment center, but no engine?

We are now having the same issue on our 2019, with 35k on it.
Doesn't matter the temp, and only has to sit 15 to 30 min. Hard pedal on startup.
Brought to dealer, and they said it was the booster and master cylinder. After a fight over warranty, they covered it. ( $2500 for parts and labor )
Back from the shop for 2 days now, and it's doing the same thing. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

There was a guy on the Ridgeline forum that had the issue with a brand new 21 RL. It was simulated for the dealer and the dealer replied it was normal. The owner ordered the check valve himself and problem solved for now.
