My tailgate works fine 99.9% of the time. If it doesn't open the first kick, it's usually because I do it a bit too fast. I try again slightly slower and it works. I used the auto start only once to try it out, and it worked fine.
How do you set up the auto start?Hello! I’ve been a Passport owner since April 2019. I am a big user for the autostart (on keyfob) to allow my vehicle to warm up early in the morning before I head-out and in the warm afternoon too allow that car to cool down before entering. I’ve noticed that the autostart doesn’t work 90% of the time! I also noticed that the automatic real tailgate doesn’t work 90% or the time.
I wanted to bring this up because I brought my car to the dealership that I purchased it at and they tested 5 other HONDA Passports of the same year, model, trim level and found the defect in all of them (50% of the time the automatic start would work and for the rear tailgate 25%). They reported that this is considered “normal function” on the work order as a cover up but I don’t think this is good especially if we’ve paid a hefty amount on the vehicle! Please test yours out and let me know. I am currently going through arbitration because I refuse to keep a vehicle that isn’t meeting my standards.
You don't need to do anything to set up auto start. You just need to press the lock door button on the key FOB, then press and hold the weird circle looking button for 5-10 seconds. The doors remain locked until you unlock it to drive away. How do you set up the auto start?
And does it keep your doors locked so no one can jump in?
My auto tailgate worked a few times, then never again. I took it to the dealer back when I got it in April and they said it was fixed but it wasn’t. I honestly don’t think about it.
I did not know about this feature, still reading thru the 667 page owners manual while I have time off work until August 4th...This is on page 454.You don't need to do anything to set up auto start. You just need to press the lock door button on the key FOB, then press and hold the weird circle looking button for 5-10 seconds. The doors remain locked until you unlock it to drive away.
I haven't had to do anything special to get it to work. Just click the button to lock the doors, then when I hear the doors lock lock clunk I just let go of the button and hold the start button until the light flash. Luckily no special dance required. lolSo I tried the auto remote start yesterday several times and no go.
Did exactly what the pages 454-456 in the owners manual said.
Any tricks I’m missing?
My dealer sucks and I’d rather go without then take it there.
Are these the buttons you pushed?I haven't had to do anything special to get it to work. Just click the button to lock the doors, then when I hear the doors lock lock clunk I just let go of the button and hold the start button until the light flash. Luckily no special dance required. lol
Ok - your process worked! A neighbor friend and I were very excited when it started and I could shut the engine off!Yep, those are the buttons. No need to hold the lock button down, just press it then hold down the other button until the lights start flashing. I use this feature fairly often, so I would definitely take it in to the dealer if it didn't work.
I don't have that on my PP, but looking at the forums it appears it's not the most reliable option.Ok - your process worked! A neighbor friend and I were very excited when it started and I could shut the engine off!
Now maybe you can fix my tailgate hands free since the dealer can’t! ??
Is it not on all? I didn’t even know I had it until it was mentioned here. It takes a while to read all the pages.I don't have that on my PP, but looking at the forums it appears it's not the most reliable option.
