Amazon doesn't own any refineries, so I wonder who they get they oil from.

Many years ago this Cheap Charlie (running 5 vehicles with a recommended 3K interval) always went with the cheapest oil available (Walmarts SuperTech) - and I never once had a problem; those $13 Walmarts oil and filters worked.

Today I feel different about it - oil is cheap (even Mobile 1) - especially if you consider it now goes 10K miles (as I trust Hondas' MM).

I do wish my Ford diesel services were as cheap as my two Hondas' are.

Warren Distribution is the company that specializes in private label petroleum products, including synthetic oils for AmazonBasics, Costco Kirkland, and Walmart Syntech. Numerous reviews can be found on these synthetics, and overwhelmingly positive reviews.

For Costco shoppers, their Kirkland 0W-20 specifies ”For use in gasoline, ex-fuel or gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles requiring SAE 0W-20 API SN PLUS." For the oil change DIY'er, it has also been on promotion in the recent past, & likely again in near future: Two-Pack of 5-qt containers for $25-$26. That makes it only $2.50/qt.

We stocked up on RTG syn @ local Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, O'Reilly "blow-out oil bin" sales and often ended up with free or almost free oil of varying viscosities. Not only did the retailers sell RTG for less than $2/qt when combined with offers like "$7 off $30" and similar but Shell offered rebates. We also run all our Hondas on 5W-xx and 10W-xx oils during summer months on 3 continents (same precise engine but US specifies viscosities different that EU and AU)
