Any idea what this is or where it’s from?

I was driving and heard something sound like it rolled or fell inside. Then later when I stopped this was sitting on my backseat.

I can’t find anything it looks like it would go to?

Honestly, I can’t recall exactly when I heard the noise of something fall or roll, it had been a few hours after since I opened the back door. I had my windows up on the freeway, then down when I wasn’t, (only to get my jacket out)! I suppose it’s possible, but a serious dick move if they did toss it in.

I can’t figure anywhere it could go, there is nothing it fits, more another that looks like it. ?‍♀

That’s what I thought at first, but there isn’t one on the other side and it doesn’t fit my exact window size?

If nothing is missing, it had to be something someone tossed into your back seat while you were not in the car and one of your back windows were open. Very strange.

If the edge is covered with a felt-type material, it's the window sash trim that fits between the inner door panel and the window glass. With both rear windows down, look at the top edge of the door panel and see if one side looks different. I'm not sure how this part would be able to fall off since its supposed to be under the top edge of the door panel. maybe it got doubled up at the factory or something.

I just double checked that and don’t have one like the other. I did noticed it F’d up my new tint on one side with a big gash in it. ?

Can someone please check their moon roof track and see if you feel a velvet feeling piece here in this spot my finger is pointing? The piece could fit there, but there’s nothing to hold it in place.

If you just had some window tinting done, could it have been something the installer took off to do the job, and not put it back on correctly?

That’s also possible. I have to go to the tint shop tomorrow and get the giant gash fixed.
I did just check the moon roof and it’s possible it could fit in there - hoping someone here can check there’s and see if they have such an object in it.

I am chalking it up to it flying in from the road or someone chucked it into my window.
I just wish I could recall when I heard something make the noise in the back - but after 3 hours of driving 99 miles each way, my brain was fried...Good thing I don't drive around with little ones in the backseat - but that's probably why people who do don't have their windows down.

I do need to pull my car from the garage tomorrow and inspect it - I am tucked into my stupid small space and nothing I can do today anyway with everything being closed.

I just checked out the place your pointing to in my Elite and don't find any loose piece that you show with those "teeth" sticking out. Also, if it did come down from there it should have fallen in the front seats. I ran my fingers all around the edge of the moon roof and the glass and nothing was loose or looked like the object in your photo. Also, all the edges of the glass have a rubber or a foam gasket and not a velvet material. Ken in PA

Thanks Ken. Wayne said the same thing - and nothing in the moon roof track.

And I agree that would have been an obvious fall of an object while driving. I went thru all my doors and windows and could not detect anything. Just hope it didn't mess up any paint as bad as it did my window tint. Thankfully, that looks like it was just on one window. Will inspect it tomorrow. Gotta wash the dust off from my off roading trip yesterday ;)!

Just got done at the tint shop. I didn’t realize whatever this was sacked two windows! Thankfully just the tint had gashes in it so I don’t have to replace the glass!
