Hello all,

I just bought a 2023 Honda Passport TrailSport and noticed that the 2019-2021 Passports had an accessory CD Player, but I don’t see it listed for the 2022-2023. Does anyone here know if that accessory works with a 2022-2023 TrailSport? Thanks!

I have a 2019 Touring and added the CD Player, if it is not listed for 2023, then they probably changed the Wiring Harness that allowed it to be added, so even if the dash is the same, you would not be able to connect it..

That sucks as I love playing CDs and have a couple of thousand..

You could add an Audison DSP Amp, and their B-Con,

Which would allow you to play music via Bluetooth from an iPhone, Android phone or portable Hi-Resolution device

I'd like to look in to a cd player for my 2019 Touring. I'm going to need to remove some trim, to get to the area to install the cd unit...Where should I start (lower left, lower rt...?)?

I guess I'll start under the head unit/info sys and get to the console screws.

There were installation instructions on one of the websites that sells them, look at College Hills and the other places and click on the instructions, I had the dealer do mine when I bought the car, so it was fully covered with the full factory warranty...

But I love mine and may even buy a spare, as I plan to keep my PP for a long time and CD players can wear out...

Its still not obvious to me whether or not it will work with a 2023 TrailSport, but my guess is… no?

That’s such a zoomer post, or you’d know that a casette player is a boomer post, and a cd-player is a millenial post :)

I would imagine it will since the HU is the same.
I figured that weirdly placed and sized shelf has another purpose!

I explained it previously, but have no problem trying again.

The CD player plugs into the Passport wiring, I believe someone with a Elite tried it and found out the Passport wiring on the Elite did not have the proper plug to connect to, hence, it would not work.

In previous years, Honda listed the CD Player as an accessory on the other models (sans Elite), so it was obvious that the wiring harness in the Touring, XL & Sport supported the addition of the CD player.

The fact that the CD player is no longer listed as an accessory, it would be logical to assume that the 2023 Wiring Harness no longer has the CD plug-in.

Couple of things you could do is:
1) Go to the Honda/Canada site and see if CD players are still available. If they are then it might work.
2) Find out the Part Number for Wiring Harness for the current TrailSport version.
3) Find out the Part Number for Wiring Harness for the older models that accepted a CD Player.
4) Compare.

Helpful, thank you! I’ll give all of that a shot and report back.
CD player...? CD PLAYER!!! You don't want no stinking CD Player. Vinyl is big once again. What you want is an in car Turntable.

I was born in 88 and grew up in the Philippines so I didn't have much exposure with vinyl. I'm not entirely sure what the current comeback is about.

Is it because all the people who grew up with them are now retiring and have nothing better to do? But this does not explain the fascination of young folk (even younger than me) wanting these.

As someone who has good hearing, I can't imagine the sound of pops/crackles during my music listening would be entertaining, but maybe I just have to sit down and actually have a listen.

That said, we did have a laser disk player back in the old van. I'm sure someone's already created an in-car vinyl player.

Seriously boomers, just get Spotify and find the music you want instead of using CDs.

Many audiophiles consider the sound from vinyl as richer and warmer than that of a CD. Perhaps @stevenD can shed a better light on the vinyl comeback phenomenon. :)

No. As a vinyl collector, vinyl as a media is never going to be superior compare to CD. It’s just not possible in terms of frequency response, transient, and signal to noise ratio. However, music from the vinyl era were mastered by sound engineers that knew what they were doing. Same music on CDs later were mastered by someone who certainly didn’t. If you getting new music, getting it digitally. If you looking for old music from the vinyl era, vinyl is a better choice. And when I say vinyl, I mean like old vinyl. Not the new stuff.
