Hi guys. About to pull trigger on a passport. In my opinion it's a great car because it's simple, roomy, and had a great engine from a great company.

At first it was a hard no from me because of no center console, and I still prefer center console but the arm rests aren't too too bad from the limited test drives that I've done. My main gripe is they seem unnaturally close to seat - but we're talking about reversing decades of consumer habit (having a center console).

I'm tall 6'2 with broad shoulders... I feel like I can make the arm rests work but I just want to get a consensus from anyone with a similar build and mindset to see if it ended up not being a big deal.

Looking for real world stories to push me over the edge! Thanks in advance.

Like you, I'm a big guy. 6' 4" with wide shoulders. I know it's been a huge deal for some about the size of the armrests, but it's never been a big issue for me. I feel like they are adequate, especially since they ratchet to the height & level we each need. Our '16 Pilot had the same armrests & it never even occured to me that they were too narrow until folks on the Pilot forum started complaining about it & someone decided to start making them due to the complaints. That is the same company that jppelec posted you a link to as an option available for those who want wider armrests. Now you have no reason to purchase that new Passport. Go for it!

Have you used them? My seats will be all the way down, I heard you may not be able to use in that case.
I haven’t used them but I am contemplating getting them. The company that makes them has a phone number why don’t you ask them if having the seat all the way down is a problem. I haven’t heard about that, although it wouldn’t be a issue for me. Give them a call and ask them.

My Ridgeline has the same ones - I'm 6'1" - no problems and sometimes I do alter the height of the armrest

I am 6 foot with a wide frame. I’ve had the PP 1 1/2 months. The armrest is comfortable. A couple times I have bumped the armrest up to the next position and had to reset it. Doubt I change but if it keeps happening I might go to the non ratcheting. Please update if you change. I also have the seat all the way and would like to know if that is an issue.

The arm rests were one of the things I wasn't crazy about before I bought the passport...but I've really come to appreciate them and the fact we have that massive storage bin. And I find my self changing arm rest position all the time - definitely dig on the flexibility. So yeah, what Gator said. Go get one. 😀

I am a very large person and the armrests do drive me nuts when I’m laying my arm on it. I pretty much changed my hand positions to not lay my arm down anymore! I still may get these aftermarket options for those long long trips!

I would definitely recommend giving the emergency brake a try. I am 5ft3in and I feel like I have to bring my knee to my shoulder to set it. lol I do love the Passport though! Roomy

I added the aftermarket arm rests; just had to get a pickle fork to remove the stock ones - BIG improvement.

Are you a 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock steering wheel hand placement person? If you are you won't need the armrest.
I'm a 9 o'clock and 3/4/5 o'clock hand placement person so I need the arm rest for my right arm that travels between 3/4/5.

Nice illustration, I had to check by driving, I use 8 & 4. I tried the armrest also, it was fairly comfortable but I still don't use or miss it.

6'!', I really don't like the the PP armrest as compared to a console armrest. Our MDX has a great console armrest and much more comfortable on longer trips. For short trips around town the PP works just fine, but for traveling I'd miss a console armrest. I'm going to have a upholster guy make a foam console that will set on the sliding console, bridge across the hard part of the console that'll add height to and make an armrest. Those wider armrests are ridiculously expensive and for half that I can get an upholstery guy to fab something up that will work just fine.
