Nothing like Mettalica* on high volume to drown out tire noise...

(* Disclaimer: not what I listen too)

Just a quick update on the tires. Cleared 30,000 miles with them and boy, they are getting NOISY. Tread condition is still very good but it's crazy how loud these are now. I may play around with tire pressures to see if it helps but I cannot imagine going 50,000 miles with these tires due to the noise. Bummed!
Happened on my old ride with Toyo AT3s. They lasted 8k miles. Zero miles quiet as a mouse. 5k loud, 8k dumped them. Guy at discount said they should be rotated every 2-3k vs 5 or they start cupping. I didn’t know and did 5k that normal tires need

^ This (cupping). That is exactly what has happened with my Cooper tires. And same here, didn't know to rotate them more frequently. I may have to just eat it and either get new tires or a whole new $et-up (wheels and tires).

I have 17 Cooper tires as well. Do post what you find with tire pressure. BTW, what tire pressure have you been running all this time?

I started with 32PSI new, now at 3K I am sticking to 34-35.

Hey 407, do the Continental TerrainContacts come in that 17" size you have? If so, I would HIGHLY recommend them!

I have been running 38psi. I was planning to lower it to 35 and see if it helps at all.

Yes, they are on the short list if I stay with my current 17" wheels. (y)

Just passing along my pain.... you can see the uneven wear on the inside of the tires. Shame, this won't correct itself so gonna have to dig into the wallet.

Thanks Passporter. Yeah, two different tire shops and the dealership all said nothing to do with minimizing the cupping and the noise at this point. Dealership threw the rig in the alignment rack and said the rear camber was out of spec and that there is no adjustment from the factory -- especially with the wheel/tire set-up I have.

^ Understood. My wear is only on the insides. The rear camber is non-adjustable and currently out of spec with the wheel/tire set-up I have. That is the issue. While the fronts are also cupping it's due to the rotation with them being in the rear at times. When I went to the tire stop where bought they never said anything about the warranty. I doubt cupping is covered but I'll ask later this upcoming week.

Gonna go back to the dark side. Looking at 20" wheels. Hopefully a new look in another week or two. Stay tuned.... :)

I was always shocked that the BFG’s I ran on my Element didn’t wear out quicker on the inside because of the camber, but I rotated them before summer and then again before winter.

The was able to get 86k miles on the first set I had on the E, the second set probably had 30k before selling it.

I’m curious with the PP being heavier and more power then the E, how many miles I’ll get out of this set

New shoes!

Wheels:
Drag DR-64
Size = 20x9
Offset = 35
Weight = 33 lbs.

Tires:
Nitto NT420V
Size = 275/45-20
Weight = 36 lbs.

I do have some follow-up work to do: need to replace the lug nuts. Discount Tire used the old ones from the Petrol wheels. They are too long and they didn’t have any shorter in the store, so need to replace them ASAP.

Old set-up:

New set-up:
