I did the 2022 map update this afternoon. Start with a blank USB, register with Garmin & download Garmin Express, etc. Took about an 45 min to download the map to the USB and right at 15 minutes to install in the Passport.

You have way faster internet than we have available. Mine took about four hours to load and fifteen minutes to install.

I try to like Garmin built in nav and having it pop up with the turn by turn on the dash but...Google and Waze just seem so much more precise and up to date with traffic.

Thanks for posting this. It gave me the boot in the ass I needed to give it a shot. It took me about 20 mins to download and 15 mins to install. Everything worked as expected. I had already used Garmin Express before to update my motorcycles GPS so I kind of knew what to expect.

Same here. DSL internet running at 7 mB. Fast enough for everything else I do except for downloading Garmin map updates.

We are fortunate to live in a metro area outside of Dallas; plus my husband works from home in an IT position so fast internet is a must. Still - I was kind of dreading this and it went pretty smoothly.
