NEW forum member! Happy to join you all and learn more about our Platinum White Pearl 2021 Passport Elite. We purchased 4-3-2021 at 58 miles on odometer and drove it 101 miles home where we stored it until an appointment for paint protection film (PPF). Tuesday 4-20 it received Suntek’s best PPF on all front leading edges, mirror caps, the bright-work surrounding the grille, the front door handle pockets, and the front door lower sill painted surfaces. Going to get something onto the cargo hatch load sill to protect that painted surface and already have some ideas from reading up on it here. We’ve added a complete set of W’Tech floor liners in black (grey interior). Before taking delivery we had our dealer add the Honda towing kit, including trans cooler, harness, and hitch so now good for towing up to 5K pounds (Class III hitch).

We were attracted to the Passport because we didn’t want a third row seat and needed something with a large enough cargo area that one of us could sleep in. We wanted AWD and a capable tow vehicle for an aluminum fishing boat/motor/trailer. Our dealership salesman who we had done deals with before (frankly, he is the ONLY car salesman I have ever trusted and liked), advised us his dealership sold nine Pilots for every Passport largely due to the Pilot’s 3 row seating capability. So O.K. we thought, Passports are “limited editions” – fine by us! Plus, I bought a 2015 Pilot several years ago and found it drove like a bus – it was rapidly passed to our daughter.

We moved quickly after learning of the current microchip shortage – not many Passports in the pipeline from the Alabama Assembly these days. Our dealer had to do a trade for the white we wanted, and the only dealer in a 200 mile radius who had a white Elite (Brown Honda, Toledo, OH) didn’t want to relinquish it…..but finally caved. It was manufactured in Feb. 2021 so no winter salt/mess exposure this past winter.

Prior to this purchase we had not bought a new car since 2005. Personally I am a little old school and I freely admit that all the electronic gizmos and nannies on this Passport are a tad overwhelming. It will be her “daily driver” but I realize I am going to spend significant time reading and learning from the voluminous owner’s manual. And from you all on this forum, so thanks for that!

We are Acura/Honda fans with five Acuras and now four Hondas.

Welcome! That is a beautiful car, and good luck.
Just got my Passport (in the profile pic) on the left at the same time as you (first week April).
This was also my first new car in many moons. Drove a used Pilot forever.

Congratulations on your new StormTrooper Passport!
And good choice on the PPF. It was the first thing I did after getting mine as well.
2 years later and many road trips, no rock chips. Just a couple dents in the PPF, which is what it’s for!

Thank you for warm welcome Gentlemen and Gentleladies.

Back down into Ohio today to build a relationship with the Parts Manager behind my dealership's sales guy, who I stated I cared for and trusted (the one and only, sales guy). It went well. Parts Manager got me going and w/his approved discount I rang up $370 + USD in fluids for all our Honda/Acuras and one of those shift tools for our "Shift By Wire" Passports. He banged me $225 for this little sh*t piece of toolage which SHOULD COME WITH EVERY "shift by wire" HONDA product sold - like, in the rear tool tray right beside the emergency fueling funnel (you know what I mean!).

I will write AHM on this. Strange how it is not even mentioned in the Passport Owner's Manual. You, the consumer, will discover this in/at ... the/your .... worst possible time.

However, your mileage might vary. (YMMV) Perhaps it is never an issue for you, gentle Passport fan.
I am like a boy scout. I fathom my Passport will be parked ten days in a northern Ontario forested cul-de-sac and upon battery-dead return not being able to roll it................ ymmv.

Meanwhile, ProdGirl, I'll study up on that Storm Trooper stuff 🎣

BEST to all,

alum04org in Michigan

What is the shift tool you're referring to?
Here are pics of the little booger:

Food Font Ingredient Cuisine Gas
Food Waste container Material property Gas Plastic wrap
Fluid Chemical compound Gas Ice cube Transparent material

So from reading about this here on another thread (which I can't seem to find and link at the moment) this tool fits
onto a connection under the hood (is it the top of the trans?) and a ratcheting socket is needed to rotate this tool to shift from P into N and then back from N to P. And one person stated they bent/ruined the silver "release ring" hence note my beefier ring that I intend to try to fit into it. Apologize for the fuzzy logic description - I've not yet taken the time to mess with it, test fit it, operate it etc. Honestly, don't think I'll ever need or use it - likely overkillling it. But these new vehicles do have parasitic draw on the battery when parked/stored.

Edit update:

I Picked up the exact unit yesterday 5/1 less the tow equipment. Love the vehicle but not liking the gloss back wheels.
The dealers in this area refuse to exhange wheels. I'll be wheel shopping tomorrow and four gloss boat anchors will be more stuff in the basement.

Oh yes, right with you on the wheels. Seems they are universally disliked.
Low profile fitment?!?

CONGRATS on your new Passport ! :)

Anyway, you should strip off the tires and move them....................they'll be shunned in 2-5 years when you re-discover these 4 black gloss boat anchors in your basement/storage. Keep the OEM wheels for now. But the tires will never be worth more.
Otherwise, let us see where the Passport goes....

Pass/Denv please let me know what wheels you choose........ 'cause I'm gonna be in the market before next winter, too. I was thinking something basic wheels - maybe even steelies - shod with some good/better snow tires to make "The Trooper" a bona-fide snow-buggy!

Looks like most owners move to 18's but I have lots more reading to do about it in this forum. 🥅

I went to a shop here in Denver that specializes in swapping out wheels. I'm swapping these butt ugly 20" black wheels for some 20" Pilot 2019, touring trim wheels. I'm a no go on down grading to 18" wheels. Besides losing handling performance, I think they look puny. I don't think the Passport is the best looking crossover to start with. Putting puny wheels on it won't help the looks. I find no issues with the ride comfort on the 20" inchers.
