2021 - Cell phone remote start parts list?

Hello,

I've been hunting for a cell phone based remote start setup for a 2021 EXL. The local stereo store wants $700 and isn't interested in sharing the part numbers. I'm curious if anyone that has done a setup could share the parts required. Hoping for a T-harness and everything.

EDIT: Crutchfield provided me the parts required. Read on to learn more.

Parts Required:
iDatastart CMHCXA0 - Remote start "computer"
Firstech Drone X1-MAX-LTE - Cell phone remote start addition
iDatastart ADS-THR-HA10 - Passport Specific T-Harness

The drone comes with an AT&T sim card, they have a Verizon sim card available from the following:

Firstech X1-VZW-SIM

Lastly, Crutchfield said you have to call iDatastart to flash your CMHCXA0 once it is installed. They aren't open on the weekend. I will update once the parts come and I install.

Install:

Overview - Its super easy. No splicing, no running cables. The instructions read like you need to wire up parking lights, the ignition lock and a hood sensor. This isn't necessary and those seem to be things for cars without CANBUS connections to these things. Test drive went well and everything works as it should.

Glovebox removal is required. I found this video which provided an idea, he even shows the module you're after:

Then you just plug it all in, activate everything, verify it is working and button everything up.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CALL iDatastart if you use their online applications and portal.

The hardest part is removing the glovebox.

That doesn't exist for 2021 EX-L, there's no Cell based remote start functionality.

Apparently works for both Touring and Elite.

I have a Touring. The “Remote” function in the app consists only locking/unlocking the doors, turning on the lights, locating the vehicle, and sounding the horn. No remote start.

The video is not specifically for the Passport. The functions are not the same across all models. Not sure if you are being sarcastic here or not.

I have a 22 and set up the Honda link app with my phone. My assumption is that the remote start feature works with the premium or paid version of the app. I do not pay for Honda link and the remote start feature is not in my app

No, I have called Honda about the availability of remote start and they just flat out telling it's not avaible on the Passport.

Good to know....thank you! By the way, it's an elite and the remote start works with the key fob. The option just isn't available through Honda link and the app on my phone.

The problem was your initial blanket response, it would have been helpful if you had stated that Honda offers remote start via HondaLink but the feature is not available for the Passport. You were correct in your general claim but you left room for misinterpretation after I posted the Honda video, your response seems to indicate that HondaLink Remote Start does not exist at all. That you fixed when you went on to state - "The functions are not the same across all models."

You would think since we are on a Passport forum that anything people talk about would be related to the Passport. Why would I care if any other Honda products have remote start through the app?

Woah.....feels like I'm in the backseat and daddy just hit mommy in the car. Hopefully either honda offers more options soon or maybe an aftermarket unit comes out and changes things?

Searching Ridgeline, Accord, Pilot, Prologue, MDX, Element, RDX and CR-V here returned almost 500 results. You must have missed the memo, several Honda vehicles have overlapping specification and features and scores of other members believe so hence the mention and discussion of all those non Passport vehicles.

I'm not as comfortable adding to, bypassing, or modifying Honda's electronic systems, as I might have done 10 years ago and I'd like to apologize to everyone that I've offended, while I'm thinking about it.
