I store and use a few cheap $3.99 Harbor Freight black moving blankets as cargo covers, or to protect the wheel-well 'fuzz' during load carrying, and to drape over the rear bumper to protect it from scary scratch serpents.

I have one of the blue ones from Harbor I use the exact same way. Firewood, pavers, doors, etc and back still looks brand new. Plus, pull it out the right way after use, shake off, refold and good to go with no extra cleanup. I do have one the Honda mats back there, that came with the PP, but I still prefer to cover it with the blanket when needed to keep it scratch free and looking new.
